When can you put a child in a walker from how many months, from what age
When can I put my baby on a walker? Such a question often arises from parents of too active kids, who in every way strive to learn about the world around them. Experts have no definite answer. It all depends on the sex of the baby and the level of his physical development.
What is a walker and at what age can you use it?
The baby walker is a support on wheels and is designed to provide additional support for the baby in an upright position. Their main task is to help the baby up to a year to stand on its legs and learn how to keep balance.
For children who already know how to stand with support, but have not yet taken the first step, a device on wheels with a seat is suitable. For a child who knows how to walk, push walkers will be much more interesting.
Before boarding the walker, the baby must go through the main stages of development: first, the baby lies, then begins to roll over, crawl, sit, and only then walk.
So how many months can you use a walker? The optimal period when it is allowed to put a child in a device on wheels is 8-9 months. In the earlier period, the use of a walker can be dangerous for an infant who is not yet able to sit and crawl.
Then the support can be used for 30-40 minutes a day. You cannot leave the baby in it all the time while he is awake. The harm of vertical loading persists up to one year of age. The fragile spine is not yet able to withstand the increased load, and the baby cannot complain about the tired back.
Walkers for boys and girls: is there a difference
It is known that the physiology of babies is different and they grow differently. Little girls are always ahead of boys in development, they get up on their legs earlier and begin to walk. But this does not mean that girls can be put on a walker in six months. The best time for this is 9 months.
At the same time, it is recommended to pay attention to the tendency of babies to develop dysplasia of the hip joints, which can develop into a disease if the device is used incorrectly.
The walker should be started from 3-5 minutes, gradually increasing the time to 30-40 minutes.
As for boys, it is also recommended to put them in a walker at 9 months old, paying particular attention to a comfortable position on the seat. It is not advisable to allow overheating and pinching of the genitals, as in the future this can lead to infertility.
Walkers can make life easier for mom and entertain the baby, but they should be used in moderation. Only in this case will the device be useful.
