Mantoux is a test for tuberculosis, not a vaccine. However, the interval between this test and vaccination must be respected.
When can you get vaccinated after Mantoux
To determine the time frame, you need to understand what Mantoux is. This is a test to detect tuberculosis in a child. Substance tuberculin is injected under the skin – this is an extract from the bacteria of bovine tuberculosis. After three days, the reaction is monitored. If the red spot on the skin is more than 4 mm in diameter, then it is likely that the child is sick.
Vaccination, like Mantoux, must be done when the child is absolutely healthy.
The test is carried out annually, at the time of birth, BCG is given – a vaccine against tuberculosis. Mantoux does not put a strain on the child’s immunity, so you should not deviate from the vaccination scheme. But there are exceptions. If the test is positive, then the next vaccination can be done only after a complete examination and permission from the doctor.
There are exceptions for children attending kindergarten. If there is a quarantine for children’s infections, then the tuberculin test can be carried out only 1 month after its completion.
Is it possible to vaccinate against measles and other diseases at the same time as mantu
You can vaccinate children against influenza, diphtheria, tetanus, and also do CPC at the same time as Mantoux. This combination does not affect the test result and the effectiveness of vaccination, but it is still better to take a break. It is necessary to wait for the Mantoux reaction, and then start the rest of the vaccinations.
After any vaccination, at least 1 month must pass before the tuberculin test can be carried out. If you do not wait for this time period, the test reaction may turn out to be false. It can be false negative or false positive.
If the next after Mantoux is DTP
It is a comprehensive vaccine that protects against whooping cough, tetanus and diphtheria. The vaccine exerts a significant load on the child’s immunity, therefore, it is not advisable to do it simultaneously with Mantoux.
It is better to first wait for the reaction of the tuberculin test and only if the result is negative, agree to the vaccination. If you first do DTP, then Mantoux is allowed only after 1 month. Otherwise, there will be problems with the formation of immunity to vaccinated infectious diseases.
It is imperative to observe the time interval between vaccinations. This is the key to the baby’s health and protection from possible infection. To avoid problems with vaccination, it is worthwhile to find out in advance about the upcoming vaccinations and the Mantoux test. You can do a tuberculin test beforehand.
