First steps in powder
Before leaving, you will have equipped him with a warm ski suit, lined boots, a scarf, a hat without forgetting to protect his eyes with blindfold sunglasses for example. And let’s go for thrilling adventures! It has snowed outside and the snow is still very fresh. Hesitantly, your child will gradually launch into this white coat. It’s confusing for him, he sinks in, he loses his balance. Its benchmarks are upset. He gets used to this feeling and gradually regains his stability.
Where are my feet
This is ultimately what will amuse him the most. His feet make a screeching noise and disappear under the snow. He will therefore have to change his usual approach. He will have to raise his knees higher. Another surprise: his feet will leave traces and draw a long way. Once you have gained confidence, encourage them to follow you, for example. The adult must accompany this discovery. The snow then becomes a source of pleasure.
Snow is magic!
Very quickly, your child will want to touch this material that is snow. Armed with his gloves, he will be able to grab a handful of crystals and realize that it is in fact ephemeral. It will melt in his hand. Have him observe a sparkling snow crystal closer so that he can recognize a star.
His first snowball fight
Now is the time to show him how to pack snow with his hands. If in his hand the snow is soft and can melt, it can also if we collect it and compress it become a harder material. An ideal experience to teach him how to have a snowball fight. Unlike the ball, the snow will land right where it was thrown. After practicing coordinating their arms, hands and momentum, your child will be able to target their buddies around 3-4 years old. Set the rules: the snowball fight is a game. We must not hurt and we must not throw snow in the face of the other. 5-10 minutes is enough for this part of the laughs.
His very first snowman
Now that he knows that snow can get compact and even sticky, it’s a good time to teach him how to make a snowman. Help him by taking a small snowball that you will roll with him in a bed of powder. The little ball becomes big, it will be the body of this guy. Now it’s up to him to make a smaller ball for his head. It does not matter its shape because your child cannot yet reproduce a human form. Now for him to become a real snow buddy, he needs a nose, eyes, a mouth… Let your little one’s imagination run wild. He will surely have to be dressed a little too to prevent him from getting cold. If you have the opportunity to return to the site, come regularly to contemplate the work.
