I really care to run it reliably, but I don’t know where to start and what should be marked in it. I would like to be sure which days are fertile after my period and when we have a chance to try for a baby. The information on the Internet is very different, sometimes written in such a way that it is difficult to understand what is going on and how to properly calculate the fertile days. I know you can measure your body temperature as well as the thickness of your mucus, but when does ovulation occur?

I am asking for help so that I can calculate my fertile days after the period myself. Thank you in advance for your reliable answer to my question. Regards.

The doctor advises on how to count the fertile days

Książkowo monthly cycle women lasts 28 days, it is the time counted between the first day of a given period and the first day of the next menstruation. Monthly bleeding starts the cycle and takes 4-7 days depending on the woman. On the 14th day of the cycle, ovulation should occur and the egg’s lifetime is 24 hours. therefore take this into account and remain fertile for the next day after ovulation occurs.

However, the fertile days last longer than 24 hours, because they depend on the viability of the sperm, in which, depending on the source, they are able to survive in the woman’s reproductive tract from 4 to 7 days! For this reason, theoretically, fertile days fall on days 7-15 of the cycle. However, that would be the case in an ideal world, but just as each of us differs externally, we are not identical internally.

In this case, the so-called the Rötzer’s method, which can also be a method of contraception if it is used “religiously”. It is based on the assessment by the woman throughout the cycle of daily measurements and their reliable recording of the basal body temperature measured in the same way (e.g. vaginally or in the oral cavity), the properties of the cervical mucus and additionally in the examination of the cervical features in the vaginal examination.

Intercourse on the day of ovulation gives the best chance of conceiving a child (30-40%). Symptoms of ovulation are: cervical discharge with the appearance of “egg white” – after emptying and wiping the area of the vaginal vestibule, insert clean fingers into the vagina and touch the cervix. After removing the fingers from the vagina, mucus is visible.

If it looks like the protein of a broken egg, you can stretch it 5 cm between your fingers – this is fertile mucus. During the internal examination, you can also recognize whether the cervix has decreased compared to the previous days – if so, you can say that these are fertile days. The sudden increase in core body temperature, measured in the oral cavity or vagina by 0.4-1.0 degrees C in relation to the normal temperature for a given woman, also seems to be easiest to test.

Such an increase in temperature indicates that ovulation has been completed, so it is best to have intercourse immediately after or just before the rise. The easiest way to confirm ovulation, however, is a commercial ovulation test, available for purchase at a pharmacy. The combination of these methods gives the best results for knowing your fertile days.
