When and how to properly collect the bag in the hospital
The birth of a child is not only exciting, but also a troublesome moment, for which you need to prepare in advance. Shortly before giving birth, there should be a collected bag in the maternity hospital in the house. But here’s what to put in it, we’ll figure it out.
When to collect the bag for the hospital?
Each pregnant woman determines the term of fees individually. They collect the bag to the hospital when there is time, usually after going on maternity leave. Doctors advise to collect the bag at the 32nd week, it is from this time that delivery is possible. In the hospital, a pregnant woman is given a list of things that a woman and a newborn will need in the process of childbirth.
If you are worried that you will not have time to collect the bag, then preparation can begin from the second trimester. There are no specific collection dates.
How to properly collect the bag in the hospital?
It will be more convenient to arrange things in three bags. In the first they put everything necessary for childbirth, in the second – for the baby, in the third – for the postpartum department. A fourth bag will be needed separately, but after the birth of the baby. It contains things for discharge from the hospital.
Take three bags to the hospital. First, for yourself, put:
- Documents: passport and exchange card from the hospital. Without them, you will not be accepted to give birth. They are placed on top of the bag.
- Linens.
- Pajamas, in which you will give birth, as well as a bathrobe, socks, several pairs of underwear and slippers.
- Sanitary or urological pads and disposable diapers for childbirth. Buy diapers in 2 large packs. They will be needed when draining water and during childbirth.
Immediately after the baby is born, you can take things out of the second and third bags.
What should the collected bag contain in the maternity hospital for the child?
The list of things for a newborn depends on the time of year when he is born. Some recommendations can be given to you in the hospital, if you go there in advance and find out everything.
In general, the following things can be useful for a baby:
- disposable diapers;
- diaper packaging;
- wet baby wipes;
- diaper cream;
- baby soap in a soap dish;
- diapers for swaddling;
- clothes: bodysuits, caps, socks.
If the room is cool, then put a warm blanket and a towel.
Once you are transferred to the postpartum ward, you will need clean pajamas, a bathrobe and bedding. Buy a nightgown with a deep neckline or with buttons. Be sure to include a nursing bra, towel, soap, cell phone and charger, cup and plate in your bag. A breast pump can be purchased on request.
If dad is present at the birth, then a bag is prepared for him separately. Changeable clothes and shoes, personal hygiene items are put into it.
Do not take unnecessary things with you to the hospital, so as not to get confused when unpacking bags. Everything you need can be brought in later, without the need for books or magazines. Believe me, after giving birth, you will not be bored.
