A similar effect, i.e. slowing down the development of tumors has been observed in prostate cancer. In this case, scientists suppose it has to do with the omega-3 fatty acids contained in linseed. 1 tablespoon of linseed contains approx. 1,5 grams of acids omega-3 fatty acids.

2. Protection of the cardiovascular system

Favorable fatty acid composition in these small seeds has a positive effect on the cardiovascular system. Eating linseed daily flaxseed can lower cholesterol, reducing your risk of developing it heart attack or stroke.

In addition, they are found in linseed earlier the aforementioned lignans, which may also influence the concentration of cholesterol in the body blood. Interestingly, research has shown that these compounds lower cholesterol, but only in men. Not the reasons why lignans do not have such an effect were explained women – however, it is suspected that this is related to low levels testosterone in women.

3. Protection against X-ray radiation

Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania showed that the diet containing linseed protects tissues and organs against harmful effects x-ray radiation. The experiment was carried out on mice – those mice that received seeds in their diet either before or after irradiation linseeds had a lower concentration of pro-inflammatory cytokines and less intense pulmonary fibrosis (this is important as pulmonary fibrosis is incurable).

4. Protection against diabetes

The addition of linseed to the diet can not only protect before the onset of diabetes, but also helps to regulate blood sugar levels in people who already have diabetes. As a result, the dose of drugs can be reduced diabetes or insulin dose.

5. The “smart drug” for constipation and diarrhea

High in dietary fiber (27 g per 100 g of product) makes linseed effectively help in the fight against constipation. But that’s not all. After the seeds are infused, mucus is released from them, which regulates the work of the intestines and restores its harmony – in this form, flaxseed helps in in case of constipation and diarrhea – they can be described as “smart drug”.

How to prepare linseed?

Flaxseed has an invaluable effect on health, but under provided that it is properly prepared. For flax contains substances cyanogenic substances that are activated during grinding (e.g. grinding) and transformed into hydrogen cyanide. However, it is enough to pour it the seeds with hot water or hot milk to prevent this from happening.

Due to the high content of dietary fiber, it is recommended that the daily portion of linseed should not exceed 2-3 teaspoons.
