La kennel cough, also called infectious tracheobronchitis is not a fatal disease but it is very contagious. It is due to the bacteria Bordetella or virus Parainfluenza (same strain as human flu.
Inflammation of the respiratory system, it is characterized by a persistent cough, discharge from the eyes and nose. The general condition is however not altered.
It exists two people vaccines against Kennel Cough, the Pi (in the CHPPi) which protects against the virus parainfluenza (Pi) and which is done almost systematically by veterinarians but it is necessary add a specific vaccine (usually in intranasal form) to protect against the bacteria Bordettella.
