What type of hair removal should you choose?

Progress does not stand still, today beauty salons offer a huge selection of types of hair removal. When deciding on the procedure, it is better not to listen to the advice of friends and acquaintances, they will not help. The reaction to it is very individual. But to get acquainted with the impressive list of pros and cons of each type of hair removal and decide what is closer to you, it is better to visit the salon.

All types of hair removal have common contraindications.

First you need to warn about general contraindications to all types of hair removal, without exception. These include:

– wounds and scratches that violate the integrity of the skin;

– dermatoses and parasitic diseases (also indicate reduced immunity, and hence the ability to regenerate the skin);

– all stages of pregnancy (this contraindication is not absolute, but only relative, and in general it exists solely due to the fact that no studies have been conducted on the effect of various types of hair removal on pregnancy);

– breastfeeding (the same as with pregnancy);

– varicose veins in the area of hair removal (due to increased skin temperature);

– menstruation (due to changes in the composition of the blood during bleeding, a decrease in the ability to coagulate, for example);

– all types of tumors (with a tumor process, no warming up physiotherapy can be done, and almost all types of epilation refer to just such procedures);

– infectious diseases and acute respiratory diseases (cause a decrease in immunity, and hence the regenerative abilities of the body);

– decompensated diabetes mellitus (with diabetes mellitus in the stage of decompensation, the process of tissue regeneration is very difficult);

– herpes in the acute stage on the epilation area;

– ischemic and other heart diseases.

Relative contraindications for hair removal:

– recent (less than a week) tanning (in a solarium or in vivo);

– self-tanning is also undesirable to apply on the area that you plan to epilate.

It should be borne in mind that some of the ways to get rid of unwanted hair require special care from both clients and beauticians. Excuses: “She didn’t tell me, how do I know?” – from professionals are not accepted, they must ask you about everything! Nevertheless, you should not rely on the conscientiousness of the cosmetologist – be sure to ask him clarifying questions regarding the contraindications and subtleties of the procedure that you choose.

Now there are many types of hair removal, it is important to find the one that suits you.

Now let’s look at the existing types of hair removal. There are a lot of them, but after studying each, you will be able to determine which procedure is right for you, and, accordingly, not be afraid for the result!

 — Enzyme hair removal. Contraindications: intolerance to the substances included in the solution, which, in fact, remove hair. If you are prone to allergic reactions, avoid enzymatic hair removal. As a last resort, be sure to require an allergy test! Keep in mind that it cannot be applied to the face. The procedure is absolutely painless.

Ultrasonic hair removal. Ultrasound destroys not only the hair follicle itself, but also the cells surrounding it. Thus, there is a high risk of damage to the skin, therefore this procedure is not performed in the bikini area and face.

This hair removal is painless, but the effect does not appear immediately: in one session it is possible to remove only those hairs that are in the phase of active growth, and the sessions can be repeated no more than once every one and a half months. It takes about a year to completely destroy hair, and therefore the procedure is recommended for those who do not expect an instant effect from it.

Laser hair removal. Effective only on thick, dark hair, useless on thin vellus hair. The effect is achieved only after several procedures, since in one procedure hair can be removed only in the stage of active growth. Laser hair removal should be done only at a time when there is no sun (late autumn, winter): pigmentation may appear from exposure to ultraviolet rays on the laser-treated area of the skin. Practically painless as it is accompanied by a cooling air flow.

Photoepilation. The heat energy emitted by the light beam destroys the hair follicle. This procedure has particular contraindications:

– photodermatosis of any origin (“allergy” to the sun also refers to photodermatosis);

– keloid scars (scars on the skin remain cyanotic red and rise above the surface, and do not fade and do not compare after a year);

– allergic reactions in the form of skin manifestations;

– tattoos (including permanent makeup), birthmarks in the epilation area (including dark freckles).

With the help of photoepilation, again, only dark hair can be removed; it is powerless against gray or vellus hair. In addition, for the procedure to be successful, you need to be very strict in choosing a specialist and a salon where you will do this procedure, because the success of photoepilation directly depends on the qualifications of the cosmetologist.

– Elos hair removal. It is necessary to carry out a series of procedures with long breaks. This type of hair removal also has contraindications. These include:

– hyperthermia;

– epilepsy (because epileptics are especially sensitive to flashes of light, an attack may develop);

– wearing a hearing aid;

– the presence of metal implants;

– apparatus for stimulating cardiac activity;

– taking antibiotics of the tetracycline group;

– recent sunburn.

Electrolysis. Hair removal with a disposable, conductive needle. Recommended for removing individual hairs. Private contraindications for this procedure are similar to those of Elos epilation:

– the presence of any metal implants (including an intrauterine device, dental pins, gold threads implanted into the skin, etc.);

– intolerance to nickel (if your ears hurt from jewelry earrings, then, most likely, you have it) and gold; the fact is that it is from these alloys that the needles for electrolysis are made. These needles are inserted into the follicle and start up a current that destroys the hair root, this is the essence of electrolysis;

– epilepsy (because epileptics are especially sensitive to electrical impulses.

In the area of the auricles and nose, electrolysis is generally prohibited. The procedure is painful, so few people can withstand it on large areas of the body. They have not yet learned how to apply anesthesia for this type of hair removal. The fact is that experts say that the effectiveness of the procedure may decrease due to anesthesia, although there is no scientific justification for this fact. On the basis of all factors, the procedure is recommended for the removal of individual hairs.
