Peking
It is the capital of China. The first mentions of this city date back to the second millennium BC. Over the years, a huge number of events have taken place here. It represents the Inner and Outer cities.
The “Forbidden City” is the Inner City, where the rulers and their families used to live, now it houses the Gugun Museum.
The Forbidden City is the largest palace complex in the world. It includes, according to the Chinese, 9999 rooms. Over five centuries, 24 emperors from two dynasties ruled from here.
The capital of China is also home to the mysterious “Temple of Heaven”, which has existed for over five centuries. Previously, divine services were performed in this temple and sacrifices were made in honor of heaven. Most of this temple is not buildings, but a splendid park.
Xi’an
Beijing has not always been the capital; for more than a millennium, another city, Xi’an, played this role. A great discovery has recently taken place in this city.
In 1974, residents dug an artesian well and discovered the famous Terracotta Army. It consisted of more than 8 thousand statues of Chinese warriors. Surprisingly, there was not a single rust on their arrowheads.
the great Wall of China
Everyone knows about this landmark of China, which is considered a symbol of their country. This masterpiece of architecture, more than 9 thousand kilometers long, bewitches everyone. The construction of the first sections of the wall began in the XNUMXrd century BC. NS.
Tibet
Tibet, “The Roof of the World” is one of the five independent regions of China. This is a unique place because most of the city is located at an altitude of more than four thousand meters. More recently, Tibet was an independent state. It has its own history, foundations, culture.
Here is the former residence of the XIV Dalai Lama (Potala Palace in the city of Lhasu).
Shaolin monastery
This Buddhist monastery is located in central China on Songshan Mountain. Until recently – just until 1980, it remained in ruins due to the fire in 1928. Later it was rebuilt because the government decided to equip a tourist center here.
The Shaolin Monastery is located on the slope of Shaoshi Mountain. Now it can only be entered through the lower gate located on the south side, because there is no northern entrance yet.
Due to the fact that the slope of this part of the mountain is quite steep, each courtyard inside the monastery is located higher than the previous one. There is a wall 3 meters high along its perimeter. This monastery is the oldest architectural monument and tourists should definitely visit it.
