These crops grow rapidly and are eaten even faster by lovers of fresh salads and okroshka. Dill sown in July – August will turn out to be very lush and juicy. Leafy salads can be sown throughout the summer at two-week intervals. However, not all lettuce varieties succeed in summer sowing, some quickly turn into color. Therefore, look for the phrase “Resistant to flowering” or “Variety suitable for summer sowing” on the seed bag. In addition to leafy watercress, you can sow watercress, choose late-ripening varieties. They are the most lush and fragrant. And do not forget about arugula, the price of this greenery in the supermarket is under 200 rubles for a handful. But this type of salad grows well in the beds near Moscow.

In the second half of summer, it is quite possible to sow root crops in order to feast on tender young vegetables and their vitamin tops in mid-autumn. Take the simplest varieties: Losinoostrovskaya carrots, Moscow winter carrots, Vitamin-6, Bordeaux beets, Crimson ball, and cold-resistant 19. By the beginning of October, these varieties ripen, and they taste sweeter than those sown in early spring. Of course, they are not intended for storage, but they are quite suitable for freezing and preservation. Try sowing peas and bushy asparagus beans. Young tender pods are perfect for green salad and will delight the family in the fall.

Only ultra-ripe varieties are suitable for summer sowing, they can be sown directly into open ground. Seeds will germinate quickly if you plant them in very moist soil and cover them with dense spunbond to reduce evaporation of water. Heads of cabbage will be ready by September – green, juicy and loose. These are not suitable for storage or salting, but they can lie down until November and are very tasty in salads, soups and hodgepodge. The second half of summer is time for sowing various varieties of light radish and daikon. The only requirement: do not sow the vegetable after the radish, they have the same pests. The seeds love loose, light soil. Plant them shallow and 30–40 cm apart. In the fall, you will get juicy root vegetables, also not suitable for storage, but very tasty in a salad.

It is advisable to keep seeds for summer sowing in a weak solution of potassium permanganate and then treat with a growth stimulant
