Everyone knows that the pods have to be eaten, they are healthy, they fill you up for a long time and taste great. Whether it’s beans, lentils or soybeans, each is a great source of vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals, protein and dietary fiber. Pastes from these plants are a great idea to reduce cold cuts for sandwiches and include pods in meals. Below are some recipes for such pastes, some of them have been preparing for years, others I am going to try as soon as possible. Most of them require the use of a blender – the simplest one, but the actual preparation of each of these pastes does not take long.
1. Soybean tomato pate
Ingredients: 1/2 cup of soybeans, 1/3 onion, 1 tablespoon of oil, 2 tablespoons of tomato paste, dried basil (about a tablespoon), dried red pepper, a pinch of salt and pepper.
Manufacturing method: Soybeans pour boiling water for 3 hours, and then boil them in fresh water for 40 minutes. Dice the onions and sauté in oil. Blend all ingredients.
2. Green lentil paste
Ingredients: 1/2 cup of green lentils, 4 large mushrooms, 1/3 of a small onion, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, dill, teaspoon of red pepper, pepper, salt.
Manufacturing method: Boil the lentils, slice the mushrooms and onion and fry in olive oil, add the rest of the ingredients and blend.
3. Red bean paste
Ingredients: 1/2 cup of red beans, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 1-2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 teaspoon of oregano, 1 teaspoon of marjoram, pepper and salt, optional 1/2 clove of garlic.
Manner of execution: Soak the beans overnight and then boil them in lightly salted water until soft. Add the rest of the ingredients and blend.
3. Pasta a’la humus
Ingredients: 1/2 cup of chickpeas, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 1/2 clove of garlic, cumin, 2 tablespoons of sesame, teaspoon of lemon juice.
Procedure: Soak the chickpeas overnight, drain the water and boil in new water until soft. Add the rest of the ingredients and blend.
4. Green broad bean paste
Ingredients: 1/2 pack of frozen broad beans, 1 clove of garlic, fresh parsley, a teaspoon of lemon juice, a handful of fresh savory, oil or olive oil, salt and pepper.
Manner of execution: Boil the broad beans and peel, add the remaining ingredients, blend.
5. Mint paste
Ingredients: 1 handful of fresh mint, 1/2 pack of frozen green peas, dill, 1 tablespoon of rapeseed oil, teaspoon of lemon juice, salt and pepper.
Manner of execution: Boil the peas and blend with the rest of the ingredients.
6. Chickpea paste
Ingredients: 1/2 cup of chickpeas, 2 tablespoons of sesame seeds, a teaspoon of curry powder, a teaspoon of sweet pepper, a pinch of chili pepper, coriander, pepper, and salt.
Manufacturing method: Soak the chickpeas for a few hours and cook in fresh water until soft. We blend with the rest of the ingredients.
7. Roasted pepper paste
Ingredients: 1 red pepper, 1/2 cup of red lentils, 1 tablespoon of rapeseed oil, sweet dried pepper, parsley, pepper, and salt.
Manufacturing method: Boil the lentils until tender, bake the peppers on a grill pan or in the oven for another dish. Blend all ingredients.
8. Chickpea and dried tomato paste
Ingredients: 1/2 cup of chickpeas, 6 dried tomatoes, 1 clove of garlic, 1 teaspoon of sunflower seeds (can be roasted in a dry frying pan), 3 tablespoons of tomato oil, thyme, salt and pepper.
Manufacturing method: Soak the chickpeas and cook them in fresh water until soft, blend with the rest of the ingredients.
9. Paste from pods with olives
Ingredients: 1/3 cup chickpeas, 1/3 cup red lentils, 5 olives, 1/2 clove garlic (may be omitted), 1 tablespoon canola oil, a pinch of sweet pepper, turmeric, savory, pepper and salt.
Manufacturing method: Soak the chickpeas and cook with lentils in fresh water, add the rest of the ingredients, blend.
10. White bean paste
Ingredients: 1/2 cup of white beans, rosemary, 2 cloves of garlic, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, cumin, salt, pepper.
Manufacturing method: Soak the beans and cook with garlic in fresh water. Add the rest of the ingredients and blend.
