Modern children are always different from their predecessors from previous generations. Perhaps one thing remains unchanged – children, up to a certain age, always believe in Santa Claus and ask him for what they most dream of. What are the dreams of those who are now eight years old? Rostov kids do not have enough snow – apparently, New Year’s holidays are approaching and the guys are worried that they will not be able to play enough and run over; furry friend – some ask for a dog; and, of course, toys. Most ask for Lego, Heinz dolls and all kinds of helicopters / cars on the control panel. Particularly practical asked for a washing machine.
Letters to Santa Claus not only evoke affection, but also carry a hidden meaning. Child psychologist, specialist in educational psychotherapy Yulia Kalchenko tells what you should pay attention to:
– New Year’s wishes for children are, as a rule, a metaphor for what a child lacks most in life. So, for example, if a kid asked for himself some rare and expensive toy, this may mean that he wants to improve his own status among classmates, and if he wants a puppy, perhaps the child does not have enough friends and he feels lonely.
Of course, the reasons may be different, everything here is purely individual. Nevertheless, I recommend that parents pay attention to children’s requests, because in this way you can find out what your children really lack. The main thing is to correctly answer the question: “What will this gift give to my child?”
Also, the psychologist is sure that it is not worthwhile to debunk the myth of the existence of Santa Claus ahead of time. Firstly, because this is part of our culture, and secondly, with the help of the legend of Santa Claus, one can and should educate kindness and humanity in a child – here the story about the fact that Santa Claus comes to those who led a whole year myself well. By the way, it is better to give gifts in a playful way. Just put gifts under the tree in advance, and then open them with surprise.
“Writing a letter to Santa Claus is a very important tradition,” continues Yulia. – It’s all about sincerity: a child, as a rule, trusts good Grandfather Frost and writes about his experiences as openly as possible. Moreover, such letters have a therapeutic effect on adults as well. The secret is that many of us have artificial goals. Often, when a person sits down to write a letter, he knows what he will ask for, but suddenly completely different desires appear on the paper. So what was written in the end is the truth.
If you have worked all your life and dreamed of achieving success in a certain profession, but in the letter you indicated that you want to be a photographer and travel a lot, then buy a camera, sign up for photography courses and go ahead! Do not forget to send the letter by mail. So on a subconscious level, there will be a feeling that it has reached the addressee and Santa Claus is already working on its execution. In fact, this is the first step towards your new real goal.
