We often have a lot of food left after Christmas. Usually we prepare too many dishes and too much. And although this is the case every year, we don’t change it and we have the same problem every time: what to do with so much food after Christmas?
New Year’s Eve drinks in the “light” version
Can fasting on Christmas Eve disturb your weight loss?
Eating the same food several days in a row can get boring everyone. Even if they are our favorite dishes. There is something such as sensory-specific satiety – it consists in a decrease interest in food currently eaten. We have less and less for them we feel like it, but instead we choose products with a completely different taste. But what to do with Christmas scraps in such a situation?
The best way to store excess food is freezing. We can actually freeze most products and dishes – if we do that’s good, the nutritional value of the products will be preserved.
Food temperature intended for freezing
Products that have already been cooled down should be frozen. Hot products placed in the freezer can not only damage the device, but also affect the partial defrosting of food already in the freezer. This could spoil the previously frozen product.
Appropriate package
Food to be frozen must be suitable packed. The less air there is in the package, the better because it works it negatively affects the product. It dries it, and the ingredients contained in food are there oxidized. Food can therefore change color and lose its value. The best there will be special freezing bags, because they can be tightly closed, squeezing as much air out of them as possible.
Plastic containers specially made for soups will be perfect intended for freezing. When closing slowly, we will also remove unnecessary from them air. It is worth remembering that in the case of liquid dishes, do not fill them up the entire container. As it freezes, the volume of fluid increases, this could so damage the packaging and contribute to the spoilage of the soup.
Dating the frozen one meals
This is very important because the time in the freezer is not stops. It is true that the processes of spoilage are much slower, but not we will eliminate them completely. Frozen food has a specific shelf life consumption.
How long to store frozen food?
Cooked food can be stored in the freezer for a shorter period of time compared to raw food. And yes:
- ready-made meat dishes – should be stored in the freezer 4-6 months maximum. The fatter the food, the faster it must be eaten, due to the oxidation (or rancidity) of the fat
- fish dishes – should be frozen max. Four months
- vegetable dishes and mushrooms – up to 8 months
- fruit – up to 6 months
- cakes and bread – up to 3-4 months
Despite the above-mentioned times, it is accepted that, however, the safest frozen ready-made meals are to be eaten in within 2-3 months.
How to defrost ready denmark?
Some of the food can be placed in the freezer directly pot and heat it up immediately. This is what we can do with soups, dumplings or dumplings. It is best to steam the vegetables.
It is best to put meat and fish in the fridge overnight. Thanks Therefore, when heated, they retain the proper structure, they will not crumble.
It is advisable to freeze food in portions “at once”, because once defrosted, it cannot be frozen again. This would be microbiologically dangerous (food poisoning). So what we defrost, we must eat it whole.
