What to do with error F03 in the Ariston washing machine

What to do if error F03 occurs on the scoreboard of your typewriter? This means a malfunction of the temperature sensor in SM Ariston or Hotpoint Ariston models.

You may have noticed that when you select any mode, the system heats the water to a boil, and hot steam comes out of the door.

What does the error mean: causes and signs of failure

The Hotpoint Ariston washing machine (Ariston) shows the F03 error code on the display. This means that her work failed – when the minimum heating program (30 degrees) is selected, the washing machine heats the water until it boils.

Do you notice that the body of the SMA gets very hot? A faulty temperature sensor sends incorrect data to the control board, as a result, this leads to the burning of the heating element.

In rare cases, the heater relay “sticks”, or there are problems in the control module, so the machine gives an error. How to fix the breakdown, what to do to solve the problem, read below.

Troubleshooting

Start with simple steps that will help remove error F 03. Restart the Ariston washing machine, turn it off for 15-20 minutes. If the error did not reset, and the code still appears on the display, try the following:

  • Check the reliability of the wires between the temperature sensor and the control unit. There may have been damage. Then replace the defective section or wiring completely.
  • Use a multimeter to check the temperature sensor.

Most often, thermal sensors fail due to mechanical damage or long-term operation.

If the contact group burns during a breakdown, then the circuit closes. As a result, the system generates a fault code F03. To figure out how to fix the problem, you need to check the temperature sensor.

Checking the thermostat

Depending on the Ariston model range, there are three types of thermostats:

  • Gas-filled and bimetallic belong to the electromechanical group.
  • Thermistor – to the electronic group.

To check the bimetal and gas-filled sensors, proceed as follows:

  1. Remove the back cover of the Ariston washer.
  2. To remove the gas-filled sensor, you will need to remove the front panel of the machine.
  3. Disconnect the contacts and wires from the thermostat.
  4. Loosen the bolt securing the electric heater.
  5. Connect the multimeter to the thermostat contacts and measure the resistance (6000 ohms at 20 degrees).
  6. Immerse the appliance in hot water. The health indicator should be 1350 ohms at 50 degrees.

If the thermostat fails, it cannot be repaired. To replace, you need to remove the sealing rubber and remove the sensor. Install the new device in reverse order.

The thermistor is replaced in the same way.

If everything is done correctly, error F 03 will stop lit on the display, and the machine will work in normal mode.
