Do you have a fever, cough or feel short of breath? These could be symptoms of a coronavirus infection. What is the best thing to do then? The main thing is not to panic. The path to be followed in such situations is specified in detail. We remind you of it in our article.
- The first symptoms of coronavirus infection are usually fever, cough and weakness
- There may be loss of smell and taste, sore throat and sinuses, hearing problems, and intestinal disorders
- The first step when you suspect you have COVID-19, you must contact your GP (use teleport advice). Do not go to a clinic or call an ambulance
- You can also sign up for the test online
- You can find more such stories on the TvoiLokony home page
Coronavirus is transmitted mainly by airborne droplets. Most often by coughing, sneezing or with saliva. It is also known that the pathogen can be transmitted indirectly by touch (which is why washing hands is so important), as well as by air – microbes can escape from the body of an infected person while singing, exercising, even when exhaling.
- Seven atypical symptoms of COVID-19 that we don’t take into account
In the current situation, we can never be sure that we are not infected and, for example, we do not pass the infection asymptomatically – hence it is so important to comply with the applicable sanitary regime (masks, disinfection, distance, limiting social contacts).
We can suspect an infection when we know that we have had contact with a person infected with SARS-CoV-2. For most of us, however, worrying symptoms are the biggest alarm signal.
- Have you had contact with a person infected with COVID-19? The most important thing you need to do [EXPLAINED]
In the case of the coronavirus, the symptoms of infection are non-specific. The most common symptoms are fever, dry cough and fatigue. You may also experience muscle aches, headache, sore throat, diarrhea, skin rash, loss of smell and taste, difficulty breathing, or shortness of breath.
The list of COVID-19 symptoms is not exhaustive. A few months ago, researchers in Spain identified three new symptoms of SARS-CoV-2 infection. These are changes in the tongue, known as “covid tongue”, as well as changes in the palms or soles of the feet (burning and redness, followed by peeling of the skin or the appearance of characteristic spots).
What are the most common symptoms of COVID-19 today? In an interview with Medonet, this was explained by a doctor from the Lublin region – Małgorzata Stokowska-Wojda. Read the whole thing HERE.

The incubation period of the coronavirus, i.e. the time between its entry into the body and the first symptoms, is 2 to 14 days (most often it is five to seven days).
If the symptoms of SARS-CoV-2 infection do not appear after 14 days, can we be calm? In this case, two situations are possible: either we do not get sick, or we are infected asymptomatically and infect others. So the subject of the necessity to comply with the applicable safety rules (mask, disinfection, distance, limiting social contacts) returns again.
If the symptoms listed above appear, suggesting COVID-19 infection, we contact the primary care physician as soon as possible (teleportation). He will decide what to do next.
At this point, it is worth recalling the appeal of the Director of the Health Department of the Pomeranian Voivodship Office, MD Jerzy Karpiński, MD: – If you experience flu symptoms, do not ignore them and see your doctor during the first or second day. This will protect you from complications – he said in an interview for MedTvoiLokony.
If you feel very unwell, have shortness of breath or have trouble breathing, call 112 or 999 immediately (letting them know you have or may have coronavirus).
After the interview, the GP may refer us for a test. In this case, we go to one of the swab points with which the National Health Fund has a contract under the POZ.
Currently, you can also sign up for the test online. In this article, you will learn how to sign up online: How to sign up for the COVID-19 test? We explain step by step
