What to do if you washed your down jacket
Down jackets are wonderful outerwear for winter, they are warm in frosts, and not hot in thaws. The only drawback is the complex care, it is recommended to take it to dry cleaning for cleaning. If you had to wash the down jacket yourself, you will have to work hard to give it its original look.
it is actually easy to wash a down jacket. You can do this with your hands or use a washing machine. The result will be slightly different if the product is not dried properly. A thing simply hung up vertically will no longer be able to please the owner further. The fact is that the fluff rolls into lumps, becomes dense under the weight of moisture, as if sliding down.
The result is a shapeless thin thing that no longer warms.
To prevent this from happening, the washed down jacket must first be properly straightened. This applies not so much to the outer layer as to the filler itself. All lumps must be broken with your hands, shake the fluff so that it does not dry out in the form of a dense layer.
Dry the down jacket in a well-ventilated area, away from sunlight. The process should not take more than two days, so it is best to hang the item not far from the battery, and be sure to hang it on a hanger. Then every three hours it is necessary to straighten the fluff again, if necessary.
The product gradually acquires its original volume, becomes light and airy.
There is a simple way to destroy even the smallest lumps of down: you need to beat off the almost dried product with a regular carpet beater. This must be done carefully and scrupulously, without missing a single site.
Restoring the shape of a dried down jacket
What if the washed down jacket still lost its original appearance? Do not get upset and do not give up. A regular long stick will come to the rescue – a mop handle is ideal. The down jacket must be fastened and put on the bed or floor. Then the entire surface is carefully tapped with a stick until it becomes even.
This allows you to break large lumps of fluff into small ones that can be easily disassembled by hand.
Another way is to rinse and wring out the garment again. This is quite risky and only makes sense if nothing else helps. After spinning, the lumps must be disassembled and dried as described above.
It is easy to spoil beautiful and expensive things with improper care, so you should always read the information on the labels. It will help you avoid mistakes.
