– There can be many reasons for the swelling of the lower eyelid. It is important to identify how often this happens and whether there is accompanying symptoms… If the swelling is observed on one lower eyelid, then it may be a bite, a minor scratch, an infection, or just a foreign substance or dust. Either it’s a pimple or barley. It is worth watching for a day or two and do not press, do not rub. Pay attention to the color and shape of the swelling. If it enlarges and changes shape and color, the tear duct may be clogged or an infection has entered. You can independently use natural antiseptics, wipe or make lotions, for example, a colloidal solution of silver, an alcohol-free decoction of chamomile and calendula, saline or a solution of sea salt and water, inhalation with 2 drops of tea tree oil. If the swelling does not go away and even grows, be sure to see a doctor. We can talk about a strong infection and a virus, for example, herpetic keratitis.

If both lower eyelids are swollen, notice how often this occurs. If from time to time it looks more like bags under the eyes, then keep track of what you ate, drank from drinks on such days or the day before. It could be a food allergy or swelling from certain drinks. For example, coffee and tea can cause puffiness under the eyes, as can alcohol or synthetically additives in lemonades and syrups. Sometimes the swelling is associated with cosmetics and reactions to them.

If the swelling appears suddenly and does not go away, this may indicate problems with the kidneys or cardiovascular system. Here you should definitely go to the doctor and undergo an ultrasound scan and tests. In the future, it is imperative to reconsider nutrition and lifestyle, so as not to aggravate the work of organs and systems.

Sometimes the swelling is caused by dyes in bedding fabrics and bleach from cotton pads and make-up sticks. Makeup can also cause swelling. Especially if the swelling on the eyelid begins to itch and redden. In this case, be sure to immediately stop using these products and change the fabric of the pillowcase or the entire set of linen. Swelling of the lower eyelid also occurs from dehydration and lymph congestion. Watch your drinking regime, exclude all drinks except pure water and herbal teas. Add chlorophyll-rich vegetable juices such as celery, parsley, and cucumber to your diet.
