What to do if bitten ?
Animals or insects can carry a bite, disease or poison. Any trauma that pierces the skin can be dangerous and may require hospital treatment.
Animal bites
Signs of a bite

– State of shock.
What to do ?
- See if the skin has been punctured by the bite. If this is the case, call for help or seek medical help as soon as possible;
- Do not clean the blood right away: bleeding helps minimize the risk of disease transmission;
- Wash the wound and disinfect it;
- Calm the victim in case of shock.
Snake bites
Symptoms of snakebites
- The skin is pierced in two closely spaced places (snakes have two large hooks through which the venom flows);
- The victim has localized pain and burning;
- Swelling of the affected area;
- Discoloration of the skin at the site of the bite;
- White foam may flow from the victim’s mouth;
- Sweating, weakness, nausea;
- Altered level of consciousness;
- State of shock.
Treatments
- Call for help;
- Place the victim in a semi-sitting position;
- Help her to keep the bitten area below the level of the heart to decrease the spread of the venom and mobilize her limb;
- Rinse the bite with soap and water;
- Calm the victim in case of shock.
