Forecasters were not mistaken, saying that the winter will be snowy and cold. This time, even Muscovites, accustomed to warm winters, have experienced all the delights of the harsh season. But the cold snap is not going to retreat yet. From January 20, you will again have to wrap yourself up warmly.
Most often, children suffer from this weather. They want to walk in any frost! And at minus 15 it will not last long and the cheeks will freeze. If this happens, and no protective creams and “cabbage dress” have helped, pediatricians advise not to hesitate. And provide first aid even before the trip to the hospital.
The fact that the cheeks first of all suffer from walks is natural – after all, you can’t put on mittens on them, don’t hide them under a large scarf … in an armful and run home. After all, these are the first signs of frostbite.
Having reached the warmth, you need to provide first aid to the child. And here it is important not to be mistaken.
“The biggest mistake parents make is rubbing their face with snow or mittens right on the street. Frostbite skin is very thin, and it is easy to damage it even with the softest tissue, ”explains pediatrician Vladimir Kuzmin.
Also, forget about the “grandmother’s recipe”, which recommends rubbing the skin with alcohol or, worse, perfume. After all, alcohol is incredibly quickly absorbed into the baby’s blood through a thin layer of damaged skin, and you risk adding poisoning to frostbite. Light rubbing of the child’s cheeks is allowed only with the pads of the fingers. And of course, the hands in this case should be styryl, so as not to infect.
“And when color begins to return to your cheeks, spread a thick layer of cream on your face and let it absorb. If there is no frostbite cream at hand, the most common one – for children, will do, ”Kuzmin continues.
If the child’s temperature rises or the skin color does not return to healthy, then you should immediately consult a doctor.
