What to cook with ginger: dishes and drinks

Ginger has long ceased to be exotic and has become one of the most popular condiments of modern cuisine. Its burning and refreshing taste gives the dishes a piquancy, makes them bright, tasty and healthy. It is no secret that ginger strengthens the immune system, destroys microbes and viruses, enhances metabolism and perfectly burns fat. On the eve of winter, try to cook more dishes with ginger to keep warm and not get sick!

A pleasant recovery

Tea with ginger is an effective remedy at the first signs of a cold and for the prevention of flu. If you have sneezed at least once — do not wait for the disease to put you to bed, but immediately prepare a classic ginger tea. Ginger root should always be kept in the refrigerator for emergencies. So, rub about 10 g of ginger on a fine grater, cutting the skin very thinly, because all the most useful things are just under it. Pour half a liter of boiling water over the ginger mush, throw in a pinch of cinnamon and squeeze out the juice of half a lemon. Cover the dishes with a lid, wrap them with a towel and let the tea brew for half an hour. Then add lemon slices and natural honey to it-to your taste. Do not use ginger powder for this drink — it, of course, also has a pleasant taste, but you should hardly expect miracles of healing from such a tea.

Vitamin Surprise

The fruit drink with ginger has a delicate taste and an incomparable aroma due to the addition of apples and currant leaves. Throw a handful of dried apples, 2 tsp of dried currant leaves, grated ginger root about 4-5 cm long, 1 tbsp of orange and lemon zest and a pinch of cardamom into 1.5 liters of boiling water. Cook the spicy compote for 3 minutes, and then pour the juice of 1 orange into it and let it brew. Strain through a fine sieve and serve with chopped fresh apples and a stick of cinnamon.

The resulting ginger compote perfectly tones the body and, thanks to its invigorating effect, can completely replace coffee, like all ginger teas. And there are so many useful substances here that you do not need to take additional vitamin complexes, ginger is much better!

Spicy pork

Meat and ginger seem to be created for each other, since ginger makes even dry beef and turkey soft. Moreover, thanks to this spice, meat, which belongs to heavy food, is absorbed much easier, and after eating there is no heaviness in the stomach.

But the most delicious of all is stewed pork with ginger, tender, soft and melting in the mouth. Cut 1 kg of pork into small pieces and prepare a marinade of 50 ml of soy sauce, a pinch of salt and 1.5 tablespoons of grated ginger root. Spread the marinade over the meat and put it in the refrigerator for half an hour. In this recipe, you will also need 0.5 kg of onions, which you need to cut into large rings.

Fry the meat in a frying pan, preferably in butter. Make the fire minimal and put the onion rings on the pork along with pieces of butter. Simmer for 10 minutes until the onion softens, then simmer the dish for an hour. When the pork becomes very soft, throw 1 tablespoon of orange zest, grated on a fine grater, pour a little soy sauce and simmer for another 15 minutes until the apples are ready. Let the dish brew for a while and serve it with fresh green onions, bell pepper and ginger cut into thin strips.

Sweet and spicy

Chicken with oranges and ginger is another culinary masterpiece that you should definitely cook.

Grease the mold with olive oil and put an orange, cut into halves of circles, on the bottom. Peel and finely chop the ginger root and garlic. You will need a handful of both.

Add ginger and garlic to the oranges. Put the washed chicken on top, season with salt and pepper and do not forget the cinnamon stick — it will give the meat a special flavor. Pour olive oil over the chicken and put the mold in the oven for half an hour, preheated to 200 °C. Let the chicken be browned, and the house will be filled with an appetizing aroma. But that’s not all. Pour 1 tbsp of orange juice over the bird, cover with foil and put it back in the oven for half an hour.

Remove the foil, pour the browned meat again with the same amount of juice and bake for another 15 minutes until crisp. Tender and juicy chicken with ginger is literally filled with orange freshness, and spicy seasonings make it more invigorating and toning!

Northern berries

Ginger sauces are the most delicious and rich in vitamins C, E and group B. If you cook fatty meat, just make ginger sauce for it — and you can not worry that the dish will harm the figure, because ginger breaks down fats, removes toxins and slags. Ginger sauces with sour berries, such as cranberries or lingonberries, are especially tasty and useful.

Grind 20 g of ginger on a fine grater and sort 400 g of cranberries. Fill it with 50 ml of water, bring it to a boil and cook for 5 minutes, then cool it and rub it through a sieve. Add 200 g of sugar to the resulting cranberry puree and stir well until it completely dissolves. Add ginger and 40 ml of natural apple cider vinegar to the sauce, then whisk the sauce with a blender.

Cranberry sauce with ginger perfectly sets off the taste of Christmas goose or duck.

Soup for health

If you really cook soup with ginger, then by all means with pumpkin! The fragrant pumpkin pulp seems to lack the spicy notes that ginger gives it with oriental generosity.

Chop 2 stalks of celery, 2 carrots and a ginger root about 8 cm long into small cubes. Finely chop 2 cloves of garlic and a chili pepper, removing the seeds from it.

Pour 2 tablespoons of olive oil into a frying pan and simmer the vegetables in it over low heat for 15 minutes. Let them soften and exchange flavors. And now fill them with 1 liter of water, throw your favorite spices and continue to simmer for half an hour.

At this time, cut 1.5 kg of pumpkin into small cubes, also fry it in oil, and then throw it into the soup and cook for another 10 minutes.

Beat the mass with a blender to the consistency of mashed potatoes, mix with 0.5 tsp. nutmeg and bring to a boil. When serving, sprinkle the soup with pumpkin seeds. It is good for dieting and for restoring strength during illness.

Marine theme

Salmon with ginger is a real delicacy, and it is prepared surprisingly simply and quickly. Mix 1 tbsp chopped ginger, 2 tbsp brown sugar, crushed garlic clove, 0.5 tbsp soy sauce and a few drops of sesame oil. Spread this delicious mixture over a piece of salmon weighing 300 g, cut into portions. Put foil on a baking sheet, grease it with oil and put the fish in ginger glaze. Bake it for 20 minutes at a temperature of 200 °C, until it is browned. Serve the salmon with a salad and a slice of lime.

All seafood with ginger is very tasty, especially squid, tiger prawns and mussels. Spicy ginger improves their taste and adds flavor.

Sweet balls

Ginger sweets are a recipe from raw foodists who have long lost their taste for baking from white flour and traditional desserts with sugar. They claim that ginger sweets do not gain weight, and if you eat them during a cold, all the symptoms of it instantly disappear!
