What tests and examinations before and during pregnancy should be done for free

There is a large list of tests and examinations for which you should not ask for money in the antenatal clinic.

The closer the term, the more often you will have to go to the doctor. And you need to pass as many tests as if you are not going to give birth, but are preparing for a flight into space. What pleases me is that all these tests are required for us under the compulsory medical insurance. But you should know about these rights and many others even before pregnancy. What a woman can count on, healthy-food-near-me.com was told by experts from the My Health social project.

1. Planning a pregnancy

For prevention, you need to be examined by a gynecologist, therapist, ENT and dentist. They will prescribe the necessary tests and ultrasound, tell you what should be treated before conception. The entire package of services, along with accompanying tests, is free of charge.

2. Choosing a clinic and a doctor

If you have a compulsory medical insurance policy, then you can choose any antenatal clinic regardless of your registration – even in another microdistrict, even in another city. You can also choose a doctor who will monitor you during pregnancy, regardless of your site. But this requires the consent of the chosen doctor. To change a specialist, write a written application addressed to the head of the consultation you plan to attend.

3. We go to the gynecologist

In the normal course of pregnancy, when there are no abnormalities, the gynecologist will have to be visited at least seven times. If the future mother has any health problems, the number of visits will depend on the doctor’s prescriptions.

In the first trimester (1-13th week) – once a month, starting from the 6th week;

In the II trimester (from the 14th to the 27th week) – once every 2-3 weeks;

In the third trimester (from the 28th to the 40th week) – once a week, starting from the 36th week until delivery.

4. Mandatory examinations

– Screening ultrasound

They will have to be done three times: at 11-14 weeks, 18-21 weeks and 30-34 weeks of pregnancy. Anxious moms sometimes try to do ultrasounds more often. But doctors do not advise to get involved in ultrasound, although for money to go for this examination at least every day.

– Electrocardiogram

Your ECG will be done in the first trimester.

– Cardiotocography (CTG)

This is a study of fetal heart rate and uterine tone in the third trimester. Then you will meet with this procedure in the hospital.

5. Mandatory analyzes

– General analysis of urine and blood

If a woman has a negative Rh factor, then in the third trimester, an analysis is performed weekly for the amount of antibodies in the blood. If you have a negative Rh factor, then you will most likely need to receive anti-Rh immunoglobulin. Often he is forced to buy, but he is free of charge under the compulsory medical insurance. In such a situation, it is better to immediately contact the head, and if she refuses, then call the hotline of the Ministry of Health.

In addition to analyzes, the gynecologist issues a referral for examination by a therapist, ophthalmologist and dentist.

6. Why is it worth registering as early as possible?

If you are registered before 12 weeks, then you are entitled to a one-time fixed payment for maternity benefits (Article 9 of Federal Law No. 81-FZ “On State Benefits to Citizens with Children”). When registering in 2019, a woman receives 655, 49 rubles. (the amount is fixed for all regions).
