What temperature should vodka be before serving?

Vodka is one of the most versatile spirits. But I noticed that many people think that there are no difficulties in using it. Here: bought – poured – drank and that’s it, nothing else is needed.

But no, it turns out that vodka has its own optimal drinking temperature, with which it is drunk more gently.

How does the temperature of vodka affect its taste?

The temperature of “living water” directly affects the quality and taste of the drink. When cooled in the freezer, it becomes dense and loses its taste. No one likes such fiery water, because when drinking there is a feeling of “stuck, a lump in the throat”, and this is very unpleasant.

Some “gourmets” argue that vodka should be drunk at room temperature (18-22 degrees). They say that this is how all its taste qualities are revealed.

But I myself drink it in this way, I have no particular desire. Well, I have not yet become such a great gourmet. But everyone has the right to their point of view and its implementation.

What temperature of vodka is considered optimal

A good indicator that the temperature of drinking vodka is optimal is that it is easy to drink, does not require any snacks or liquids to drink it down. To achieve this effect, you need to cool vodka to 12 degrees in winter, and to 5 in summer.

Some manufacturers indicate the optimal temperature for drinking the drink on the bottle. I think that such recommendations are definitely worth listening to.

But here the main thing is not to overcool, because alcohol also freezes:

How to chill vodka

I used to, like many of you, keep the bottle in the freezer before serving, and take it out and pour it before use. It turns out that my actions were wrong, thereby spoiling the taste of the “fire water”.

I recently learned that the drink should not be kept in the freezer, but it would be best to lower the bottle for 10-15 minutes in a container with ice and water. So the vodka will cool evenly.

If you use the freezer, then in a short time only the bottle will cool down, and the contents will be warm.

Note! If there is no ice in the house, and the vodka was stored in a cool place (for example, in the cellar, basement or on the balcony), then immediately before serving, put it in the refrigerator for just a little, literally two minutes, there is no special need to keep longer.

Do shots need to be chilled before pouring?

Vodka itself should not be cooled for a long time, but the decanter in which it will be served on the table should be cooled more thoroughly, in the freezer. Along with him, you need to put piles next to him.

Chilled serving dishes will help maintain the optimal temperature of the drink, even when one of the guests makes a long toast and you have to “warm” the stack in your hands for a long time, waiting for the end of the speech.

It is more aesthetically pleasing to serve vodka on the table not in a bottle, but in a decanter, which was previously placed in the freezer. And on the delivery to the table they already carry a full decanter with glasses.

Excessive alcohol consumption is harmful to your health. Take care of yourself!

But, despite all the existing rules for the temperature regime for drinking vodka, many people neglect them and believe that such conventions are unnecessary. As they say: “vodka remains vodka anyway, cold, warm, chilled – there is not much difference.”

What do you think, is it better to drink “fire water” warm, ice or slightly chilled? Express your opinion, do not be shy.
