Coronavirus: Delta variant dominates in Poland. He’s really dangerous

The Delta variant has already made itself felt in Poland for good. A few days ago, the Minister of Health, Adam Niedzielski, said that he was responsible for over 60 percent. infections in our country, the latest ministry dish already speaks of the percentage of over 80 percent.

The fourth wave has become a fact. – We already have the fourth wave, because we recorded the lowest levels 3-4 weeks ago, when the 7-day average was below 100, now it is permanently above 100, and in fact is approaching 200 – RMF said on Thursday Minister of Health Adam Niedzielski.

The Delta variant is the most dangerous of all the coronavirus strains known to date. According to a recent report by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Delta spreads just like chickenpox, and complete vaccination hardly reduces transmission of the virus. Delta can also cause a much more severe COVID-19 mileage than previous variants.

  1. Third dose of vaccine – who will need it? What do the specialists say?

In the United States, Delta accounts for 90 percent. all cases. Daily, it reaches up to over 100. infections. Fortunately, vaccines severely reduce mortality. The daily average for the past week is 418.

«Vaccines in over 90 percent. protect against the severe course of COVID-19, but may be less effective at preventing infection or transmission. That is why, despite vaccinations, more cases of disease occur and it spreads faster »- reads the report.

Vaccines with the Delta variant reduce the risk of serious illness and death by a factor of ten, while the risk of infection by three times is reduced.

Delta variant – how to avoid infection? Doctor’s advice

We are all tired of the pandemic and would like to return to normal, but the Delta variant is ‘lurking around the corner’ so we have to follow the most important rules at all times. Dr. Leo Nissola, an American scientist and immunologist, writes about them. These rules seem obvious, but – as recent history teaches us – not for everyone.

Get vaccinated fully

Vaccinations are the best medicine man has ever created, notes Dr. Nissola. Vaccines used in the United States reduced the death rate by 95 percent. This is still the best way to avoid hospitalization and death. In addition to reducing this risk, vaccination makes COVID-19 more gentle, even after infection with the Delta variant.

  1. One got vaccinated, the other did not. Their lungs after COVID-19 look completely differentj

In the USA, vaccines from Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and Janssen are used. These preparations are also used for vaccinations in Poland, which is why the appeal of the American doctor remains valid for us as well.

Moreover, the latest data from individual provinces clearly show the relationship between the level of vaccination and the number of new COVID-19 cases. – The number of infections is growing fastest in voivodships with the lowest percentage of vaccinated inhabitants – writes Dr. Paweł Grzesiowski.

Wear a highly effective mask

Masks are part of the sanitary regime that causes the most controversy. Different countries apply a very different policy regarding wearing them, in many places it can be very different with the observance of the rules, but it cannot be denied that it is a thing that can save lives.

  1. Pfizer’s third dose for the Delta variant. Protection five times higher

Masks filter the air, protect against the spread of the virus and against infection, but they work differently. Not all of them are satisfactorily effective. You can wear cloth masks or cover your face with a bandana, but according to the immunologist, they do not provide an adequate guarantee.

The doctor says that the KN95 protective mask, i.e. a multi-layer filtering mask in the FFP2 category, will be the best.

Avoid crowded rooms

We don’t feel it yet, but the Delta variant is about to be ubiquitous. There will be more and more people infected who carry the risk of spreading the virus further. This risk will increase as you shorten the distance between people and increase the density.

Therefore, if you want to avoid the first or recurrence of COVID-19 infection, limit the use of overcrowded means of transport, do not enter buildings or rooms with many people, refrain from visiting beauty or hairdressing salons where there is little chance of getting infected. keep a proper distance, and ventilation may be far from perfect.

Do not lend quarters

The US agency CDC recently changed its mask recommendation. It happened, inter alia, after the infection spiked in the small town of Provincetown following Independence Day events. Now even the vaccinated people are affected by wearing masks.

  1. This is what the unvaccinated fear most. How many serious NOPs were there? [WE CHECK]

And these infections grew after many visitors took advantage of the possibility of sharing flats or beds with the locals, the so-called couchsurfing.

Avoid sharing the bedroom with others, urges Dr. Nissola. People usually sleep for eight hours, during which time the host breathes with a stranger in one room. If it is infected, the infection is guaranteed.

Avoid public spaces

Outdoor parties are fun, and there are a lot of them in the summer. Crowds of people at concerts, high density, direct contact – these are ideal conditions for the spread of the virus. Especially that hardly anyone then remembers about the masks.

More and more people are vaccinated, however – as research has shown – this does not completely limit the transmission of the Delta variant of the coronavirus. So if you have safety concerns about yourself or others, limit your attendance at such events.
