Christmas greed – sometimes it’s hard to avoid. After all, Christmas is a time when we eat a little more than usual. However, there are mistakes that we often make at the festive table – avoiding them will allow us to keep the satisfaction that comes from tasting all the dishes, but also prevent us from being overfed. Here are the advice of dietitian Celina Kinicka from the Damian Medical Center.

Mistakes during the holidays can affect your health

There are always many dishes on the table on Christmas Eve, and we want to try each of them. What are the top five mistakes we make?

1. Adding more portions – during dinner, let’s follow the principle of one plate, that is, put on a plate, even if it is a large plate, as much food as you can fit and do not make extra additions afterwards. The problem during the Christmas Eve is that there are really many dishes. If we put each of the following separately on the plate, we will actually lose any control over how much we ate.

2. Eating whole portions is another mistake many of us make and then complain of overeating. Instead of eating full portions of dumplings, cabbage or carp, let’s just try them. Thanks to this, we will taste every dish, but our stomach will not get too much food.

3. Too long sitting at the tablewhich makes you snack. After eating dinner or lunch – get up from the table. We can go to another room or sit on the couch, where we will be away from the table full of delicious food. Sitting the whole meeting at the table may mean that we will put more dishes on our plate every now and then.

4. Too little drinks – remember that drinks fill the stomach and do not provide calories. During Christmas Eve we usually drink little – often it’s just a soup, compote of dried fruit or a glass of wine. However, let’s not forget about water, and even coffee or tea, thanks to which our appetite will be much smaller.

5. No movement – Christmas meetings are not conducive to activity, so this year let’s try not to forget about it. After the meal, a family walk will be perfect, or at least get up from the table. Thanks to this, we will not snack, and the consumed dishes will certainly be better digested.
