The patron saint of the coming year is the White Metal Rat. This animal is quite omnivorous, but it cannot stand some foods and dishes. We have collected what should not be served on the table on New Year’s, so as not to offend the Rat.
Vinaigrette and cabbage rolls
The dishes are simple, as the White Rat prefers. But there is a nuance: the composition of both vinaigrette and cabbage rolls includes cabbage. And this vegetable simply cannot stand the symbol of the year, and in any form. Therefore, stewed cabbage, and sauerkraut, and fresh salads with it are prohibited. However, you should not be upset – there are still plenty of options for salads where there is no cabbage. Here we have collected more than 70 of the most different recipes.
Fat meat
You will have to give up baked pork. Even better – and from jellied meat on pork too. Moreover, it can be cooked from chicken, turkey, and beef (we have collected simple recipes here). In addition, it is worth ignoring the sliced sausage this time. Smoked, semi-smoked sausages, bacon (like any dishes with them – pizza, hodgepodge) – the products are very fatty, so the Rat will not like it.
Exotic fruits
We agreed not to consider mandarins exotic – after all, they have long become a New Year’s tradition, which you cannot beat with any eastern horoscope. However, getting carried away and making desserts with mango or salads with pineapple should be careful – these fruits do not grow in our country, they are brought from afar, so this tropical happiness can rightfully be considered exotic.
By the way, it is also better not to get carried away with citrus fruits: the maximum that you can afford is 4 tangerines a day. If you eat more, it’s easy to get allergies, even if you haven’t had one before. In addition, animals do not like the smell of citrus fruits, the Rat is no exception.
Hummus, salads with chickpeas and bulgur
The White Rat cannot stand legumes either, oddly enough. She likes cereals very much, but everything made from peas, beans, chickpeas, bulgur is not. New-fashioned salads, hummus and falafel are best left for later, but for now, prefer the classic vegetable ones. And the same Olivier – only in reasonable quantities and with lean chicken or turkey instead of boiled sausage.
