The pandemic continues, and the coronavirus itself continues to develop. There is more and more talk about the risk of another wave of COVID-19. There is also talk of the danger of the Sixth Wave in Poland. When it can strike, Medonet asked the health minister. “We are preparing for the worst,” he admitted. An increase in infections can be expected already in July. What awaits us?
- “Current forecasts say that in July the number of infections may increase, even to a thousand new cases a day” – said the Minister of Health in an interview with Medonet
- Adam Niedzielski made a reservation that these numbers “do not pose a threat to the efficiency of the health care system”
- The minister emphasized that the forecasts for the fall (September, October) do not show any acceleration of the pandemic so far. “But of course we cannot rely on them 100%, as past waves have shown us,” he added
- “Regardless of the forecasts, we are preparing for the worst,” stressed the minister. What are these preparations?
- More current information can be found on the Onet homepage.
The risk of another wave of the COVID-19 epidemic is rising
Coronavirus and its new variants remain a serious problem. In mid-June, the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) warned that on our continent the threat of Omicron sub-variants BA.4 and BA.5 is increasing. They are known to spread faster than other variants. Scientists also believe that they can “bypass” the antibody response that the body produces after vaccination or infection. This means reinfection.
Have you been infected with COVID-19? Be sure to check your health. The Healing Blood Test Pack, available on Medonet Market, can help you with this. You can also make them at home.
The BA.4 and BA.5 mutations are also beginning to take over the USA, and more and more cases are also recorded in Israel. The risk of another pandemic wave is growing. Italian experts recently warned in the newspaper La Stampa that the wave of infections could occur in the summer.
So what can happen in Poland? The editor-in-chief of MedTvoiLokony, Dr. Anna Zimny-Zając directly asked the Minister of Health when we will have the sixth wave of the pandemic in Poland?

When is the sixth wave in Poland? The Minister of Health responds
“Current forecasts say that in July the number of infections may increase, even to a thousand new cases a day” – admitted Minister Niedzielski, while stressing that “such numbers do not pose a threat to the efficiency of the health care system, and this is the criterion for introducing various scenarios”.
“As for September or October, the forecasts do not show any major acceleration of the pandemic so far, but of course we cannot rely on them 100%, as the past waves have shown us. Anyway, regardless of the forecasts, we are preparing for the worst, which means that in September and October there may be a significant increase in infections »- said Adam Niedzielski.
How is Poland preparing for the next wave of COVID-19?
But according to our analysis, this increase in infections does not necessarily translate into increased hospitalizations. So this is an unrealistic scenario for problems in the operation of the health care system.
Nevertheless, at the level of each voivodship, a specific action plan and locations are prepared for the reconstruction of temporary hospitals. The state administration has learned its lesson in crisis management and at this level we have already trained specific procedures and plans. So we are prepared. Also in terms of equipment and medication reserves or staff training.
