What’s healthy is good … but not in the States
    • 9 years ago

Americans show no attraction whatsoever to products presented as “healthy”, while the French consider them delicious. For Americans, foods that are good for health are tasteless, bad, they don’t want to eat them – they prefer French fries and burgers. Not for them cauliflower or lettuce – which is very worrying given the obesity epidemic.

Are soda drinks the best ally of prostate cancer?

    Goose in the diet?

This was confirmed by the study presented in Journal of Marketing in 2006. This survey inspired French scientists to conduct a similar poll in France, the results of which will be presented in Food Quality and Preference, in the April issue (2013). This survey showed the opposite results. The French associate healthy food with tasty and appetizing dishes. The authors of the study tried to analyze: important cultural differences exist. The “healthy = good” link is true in France, but not necessarily across the Atlantic. This may explain the difference found in the proceedings obesity epidemic between the two countries. In fact, the French and American students who took part in the survey all did slightly overweight and the same knowledge of dietetics. They knew that a hyper-caloric and fatty diet was bad for health.

The test, developed by an American scientist in 2006 for the purpose of the study, is very demanding. It allows you to visualize reflexive attitudes, presumed beliefs, explains Carolina Werle, author of the French Grenoble study. The test participants are not asked to consider and answer whether a given product is good for health and whether it is tasty. The test allows you to find out about your instinctive reactions.
