Some jobs are simply meant for the warm season. And some will be cheaper than in winter and autumn. What and how, we were told by the masters of the online consumer services YouDo.com.
Floors
Even if this season you do not plan to make repairs in a new apartment or house, you should take care of the floor screed right now. In warm weather with natural humidity, a simple screed will dry out better and will not crack. If you do this under operating heating conditions, there is a risk of getting an uneven surface. In addition, for the coating to dry completely, it takes 15 to 30 days – in the midst of a major repair, you don’t need such a pause.
“A floor screed made in the summer will be of better quality and more durable,” says Evgeniy, repairman. “And you can put parquet, laminate, tiles or other topcoat on top at any time of the year.”
Walls
You can glue the wallpaper and paint the walls yourself or involve professional craftsmen. In any case, the result will be better in the warm season – the glue or paint will dry quickly and evenly. As a result, it is possible to avoid cracks and bubbles on the painted surface, peeling wallpaper, eternal companions of “winter” repair. In winter, due to heating and temperature changes, the glue hardens either too quickly or too slowly.
Decorating the walls with stucco or textured plaster definitely should not be postponed until autumn-winter – you can get the wrong result as planned. These materials do not react well to cold and dry air.
Windows
It is best to change double-glazed windows in summer. The problem is that there is a peak in window replacement requests during the summer season. Manufacturers and assembly teams are driving up prices. Those who want to save money without compromising quality, the repairman Denis advises to order the production of windows in advance, 1-2 months before the start of the season, or postpone the installation until September – early October:
“By this time, the number of orders from manufacturers and installers will decline, and they are more willing to give a discount, because the main money has already been earned.”
Plumbing and plumbing
Only the warm season is optimal for replacing or repairing water and sewer pipes in private houses. Moreover, most of the work is carried out on the territory adjacent to the house. It is more difficult to find a professional team in summer and the price of work is higher than in winter or in the off-season. But the costs in this case are justified by the quality of work.
“If you focus on the lowest price, you will most likely get a team of novice craftsmen who will train at your facility,” warns repairman Alexander.
Summer, on the contrary, is not suitable for replacing pipes or heating batteries in an apartment building. The heating is off and you cannot test new equipment under high pressure. At the beginning of the heating season, the pipe may break. The consequences of such an emergency are unpleasant, it is not worth the risk.
