What professions are now in demand in Russia

Together with the educational platform «Netology» we understand which areas are most in demand in the Russian labor market and how to master a digital profession that allows you to work from anywhere in the world.

It may seem that due to the crisis and the exit of large international companies from the market, now is not the right time to change a profession or start learning new things. At first glance, this is true, because some of the professions in demand in 2021 are forced to change. But on the other hand, there are a huge number of opportunities for IT and digital professionals.

Marketing

According to Netology, since the beginning of the pandemic, one of the most sought-after professions has been a targetologist, an SMM specialist, and an Internet marketer. But in 2022, the largest social networks left the Russian market and it is no longer possible to set up ads in them. It would seem that the professions themselves are becoming irrelevant, but this is far from the case.

Companies now more than ever need specialists who can adapt to the situation, learn new things and open new channels of communication. Targetologists are still in demand, but now they have to understand VK, Yandex Zen and Odnoklassniki.

All Russian users switched to these social networks after the departure of international companies

Curricula for professions in the field of Internet marketing have already managed to adapt to new realities. For example, in «Netology» on course on targeted advertising, they teach relevant tools for setting up advertising.

Programming

According to data for March, more than 50 IT specialists left Russia. There are not enough IT people. At the same time, in order to enter the IT field, it is no longer necessary, as before, to study 4 years at a university and know mathematics from childhood. Entering programming is now much easier and faster.

Take, for example, Python development. Python is one of the simplest and most versatile languages on the market, and you can get the education you need for your first job in 7 months. Immediately after training, you will be able to apply for a salary of 75 thousand rubles. Java developers are even more in demand: most large services and many mobile applications are written in Java.

Businesses also need specialists to help transform their IT infrastructure.

With the departure of foreign services from Russia, their use for data storage, communication and development has become impossible. And specialists who know how to set up the infrastructure, implement Russian services and tools are needed. These tasks are usually handled by system administrators and DevOps engineers.

For example, to master the profession of a system administrator, you need 7 months of training. Now such specialists earn on average from 90 thousand rubles, and in 2020 this profession showed the largest increase in salaries compared to other IT specialties.

Analytics

In the face of uncertainty, business relies on data analysis much more than usual, almost all decisions are made on their basis. This means that professionals who can find the right data, analyze it and interpret it into conclusions, have a great advantage in the labor market.

Anyone can get skills in the field of Data Science, entry into the profession is not difficult. For example, in «Netology» there is courses in Data Science lasting 7 months, after which the specialist can already get a Junior position in large companies.

All digital and IT professions are universal

There are vacancies for beginners in large companies, in international startups, and you can also work as a freelancer. The pandemic has shown the market that remote work is a great option not only for businesses, but also for employees. And almost all specialists from the fields of marketing, programming or analytics can work remotely from home. This is handy when, for example, you have children to keep an eye on or if you are traveling the world.
