Coronavirus infection occurs in so many different ways that, based only on the symptoms, it’s impossible to tell if it’s COVID-19. Additionally, mild symptoms can suddenly get worse, and if it happens just over the weekend, you need to take corrective measures before you can contact your GP. That is why it is worth having some useful and proven medicines at home.

What drugs from the pharmacy will help with coronavirus infection?

In the case of the coronavirus, some precaution is advisable, especially in the case of seniors and people living alone. However, before we go to the pharmacy for a set of medications, just in case, it is worth checking what is already in our first aid kit and getting rid of expired medications. What is the best thing to stock up on?

Dr. Paweł Grzesiowski, expert of the Supreme Medical Council on COVID-19, in the commentary for x-news mentions, among others: non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, antipyretic and analgesic drugs as well as mucus-dissolving agents.

However, in the event of a dry cough, he recommends a nebulization procedure (inhalation of a cool mist containing drug particles) with the use of saline. This method helps to moisturize and open the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract. However, to perform this procedure, you must have a special inhaler.

– Remember that the virus increases blood clotting – says Dr. Grzesiowski – and therefore we use small doses of acetylsalicylic acid, such as in cardiology.

Acetylsalicylic acid is a derivative of salicylic acid and has analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic properties, and its anticoagulant properties were also discovered more than 20 years ago. Medicines containing acetylsalicylic acid include aspirin and polopyrin, but before using them, you should carefully study the leaflet, as they may react with other drugs.

Dr. Katarzyna Śleziak-Barglik, head of the PHC clinic in Ruda Śląska, warns: – Aspirin causes sweating and then sudden weakness, which in the case of viral diseases is not the best for the patient.

  1. Popular doctor has COVID-19. He published a guide on how to be treated at home

Our first aid kits should contain paracetamol and ibuprofen, possibly an expectorant and antitussive drug, in case of various symptoms – adds Dr. Śleziak-Barglik.

Doctors remind us that we can kill a fever when it occurs. Paracetamol alternating with ibuprofen can only be used when we have symptoms. However, antipyretic drugs, such as paracetamol and its derivatives, should not be taken as a preventive measure.

– Let’s stock up on probiotics containing good bacteria in the digestive tract – adds Dr. Śleziak-Barglik. – That’s in case you get diarrhea.

And most importantly – in the event of worsening of symptoms, we contact a doctor or call an ambulance. Remember to inform you that your symptoms may be the result of a coronavirus infection.

How to support the body during coronavirus infection?

Due to coronavirus infections, many doctors recommend taking vitamins – C and D.

– Supplementing vitamin D3 is recommended in our country to all patients from the age of 18 – explains Dr. Śleziak-Barglik – because almost all of them have deficiencies. 2 thousand units per day is the standard, so if someone is not taking it yet, it would be a good idea to start. However, when it comes to vitamin C, I suggest a dose of 500 units twice a day.

In order to take care of your body in case of infection, it is worth reaching for natural preparations, e.g. available in the COVID Kit, which consists of:

  1. Coronachinin capsules,
  2. Fix Wirustop teas,
  3. liquorice elixir for cough.

Specialists emphasize that in counteracting coronavirus infection, as well as many other diseases, the basic principle is good nutrition, as much exercise as possible and positive thinking. They also agree that the mental state of a person influences the course of infection. Hence, as a prevention, they also focus on calming down or meditating. Let’s not fall into black despair, because it is not said that all of us will be affected by the coronavirus, that we will get COVID-19 severely or with complications.

– Instead of surfing the Internet in search of advice, it is worth buying a pulse oximeter – encourages Dr. Śleziak-Barglik. – Read the instruction manual and monitor the oxygen saturation when we feel short of breath. If the saturation drops below 93%, you need to call an ambulance immediately.
