We memorize 20 topical beauty tips and little make-up tricks from professional makeup artists.
The main night of the year has passed, but this is no reason to forget about beautiful and festive makeup. All New Year’s holidays, we advise you not to neglect sparkles and bright shades in your makeup. But try not to overdo it. Otherwise, you will look not only ridiculous, but sometimes even terrifying!
Experienced makeup stylists shared their advice with Woman’s Day readers: what to be careful with and how best to put on makeup so as not to turn a fashionable make-up into war paint.
Dina Valeeva, makeup artist-image maker:
1. The “golden rule” of makeup: apply it in daylight! Lamps have different effects and make-up can turn out to be caricatured bright or seem unfinished.
2. The first and main mistake is an unwashed face. It, like a canvas for a painting, must be prepared – thoroughly washed, washed off the remnants of former cosmetics, dust, street dirt. Use not only water, but also facial cleansers – lotions, tonics, micellar water.
3. Match your face tone to your skin type – warm or cold. Bright orange spots or, conversely, too pale will look like war paint.
4. Masking “bags” under the eyes after parties and dancing until the morning, do not get carried away with concealer! Otherwise, instead of elegant makeup, you will get the opposite effect – like a spectacled bear.
5. Do not cover acne with foundation! If you have skin problems, then first of all you need to visit a dermatologist and radically solve, and not mask the problem. In this case, the foundation can only be used hypoallergenic and applied in a thin layer all over the face. Not individual pimples!
6. If you are afraid to overdo it with the amount of makeup on your face and doubt the excessive brightness of your makeup, feel free to remove half of it! It is better to have a light make-up on you than a “catwalk” one. It is good only for shows, and not for a holiday with friends and relatives.
Yulia Krylova, personal stylist, professional make-up artist:
7. Be more careful with the fashionable and relevant method of using a highlighter for today. The main thing in everything is to know when to stop! On a holiday, of course, you can enhance the effect of mother-of-pearl on the cheeks, bridge of the nose, ears and lips, and can also be added to the collarbone, neckline and hands. But do everything in moderation. It can look ridiculous in the evening light. And you need to be more careful with the highlighter for people with oily and porous skin.
8. Lipsticks of dark shades and unusual colors are at the height of fashion. This may be unusual for the perception of the people who will be around you. Remember: New Year’s is not Halloween.
9. Rhinestones are not a new trend, but very effective. Unleash your imagination by sticking them on, but do not overdo it with the quantity.
10. Expressive, wide eyebrows remain at the peak of popularity. If you did not have time to visit your eyebrow master, then feel free to arm yourself with a pencil or eyebrow shadows.
Albina Gayazova, stylist-image maker:
11. Spectacular smoky eyes with the wrong approach will turn you into a panda. And all due to the fact that you make too clear and too thick “haze”. Shade the shadows better, no need to strive for perfection.
12. Bright eyeliner and heavily lined eyes are a sign of bad taste and an inept hand. There is a rule of eyeliner: we emphasize the lower eyelid with a pencil – liquid eyeliner is needed only for the upper eyelid. And make the line clear and complete. Lines – “stumps” do not paint anyone!
13. When accentuating the lower eyelid with shadows, avoid pearlescent and bright blue eyeshadow. Otherwise, you will only highlight your wrinkles under the eyes.
14. If you do not want caricatured eyebrows, choose a pencil color 1-2 shades darker than the main one. Focus on the color at the roots of the hairs. And no unnecessarily clear stripes – makeup should be applied with light strokes.
15. Eyebrow tattooing is a thing of the past. Naturalness is in fashion. Better to emphasize volume and color with a pencil and gel or brow mousse than with a printed pattern.
16. The lip liner should not be visible. If you want to make them visually puffier, take a pencil one tone lighter than lipstick. If you want clear lines, then a tone darker. On a tone, and not a completely different shade! Otherwise, your mouth will look cartoonish.
Anna Zotova, makeup artist-stylist:
17. Going to a party – forget about the lonely lip gloss. Use lipstick – the main make-up weapon of a woman. The gloss will disappear from your lips within 5 minutes after applying it. You yourself and eat it. Alternatively, use it in addition to lipstick. Shine on top of the base tone will make your lips more seductive.
18. Apply blush with a wide brush. This will help you blend your makeup more neatly. Overly clear bright cheekbones will create the effect of a special forces soldier and will look ridiculous to say the least. Unless, of course, you decided on an art make-up.
19. Bright colored shadows on the upper eyelid are the current trend this year. If you are going to an equally vibrant party, you can experiment. But be careful with the application and the amount of shadows, otherwise the fashionable look will turn into war paint.
20. False eyelashes are a thing of the past. Today it is an indicator of very bad taste. Accentuate the natural beauty of your lashes with mascara and expert eyeliner or eyeliner.
