Many of us find it difficult to fall asleep despite being tired. Thoughts about what needs to be done tomorrow, endless solutions to problems and questions in my head …
In the meantime, sleep is one of the most important components of a healthy lifestyle. You must sleep for the number of hours you need and sleep soundly! You can read about how sleep affects our health here.
How to sleep properly and how to sleep soundly?
Fortunately for us, experts spend a lot of time studying these issues and give clear and simple recommendations. Try them for a few days and you will see how your well-being improves.
- Try to go to bed at the same time.
- Rid your bedroom of anything that might interrupt your sleep, such as pets or snoring spouses.
- Stop using phones, computers, tablets and watching TV an hour and a half before bedtime. Bright screens of phones, iPads and computers stimulate your brain.
- Turn off or remove all indicator lights from the bedroom. Even a small charging indicator light can be bright enough to disrupt sleep, especially if it is blue (it has the most impact on circadian rhythm).
- Stop drinking caffeinated beverages 5-6 hours before bed, and before bed, drink something sedative, such as brewed mint leaves.
- Conflicting eating habits negatively affect sleep. Don’t break your diet with sudden desserts or nighttime snacks. A balanced evening meal is okay, but an unexpected meal before bedtime can disrupt not only your diet, but also your sleep.
- Pay attention to the mattress and pillow. If they are uncomfortable for you, then your body will not relax and you will not get enough sleep.
