The strength of the drink is 37.5%, and the recommended retail price is 22 pounds sterling (about 1800 rubles).
Other brands of vodka with golden flakes
Smirnoff was the first, but not the only one. The following brands are on the market today: 24 Karat Gold Vodka (43% ABV), Sobieski (each bottle contains 5 mg of gold), Gold Wasser (Polish-German vodka-based liqueur with gold), Shine 24 K (40%).
Goldwasser
Goldwasser (translated from German – “golden water”) is a registered trademark. This is the name of the herbal liqueur, produced from 1598 to 2009 in Polish Gdansk, now production has been moved to Germany. The composition of the drink includes: cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, lavender, cumin, coriander and juniper, and the alcohol content is 40% by volume, but the main distinguishing feature of the brand is gold fractions with a total weight of 23 carats.
Imitations of golden vodka
Producers of vodkas of the middle and budget segments presented their versions of vodkas with gold, however, instead of real metal, they add food coloring that imitates gold flakes.
“Golden water” appeared at the end of the XNUMXth century, at that time alchemists believed that gold had healing and even magical properties, and its use in food could cure many diseases. Modern vodka with gold does not claim to have medical use, it is just a premium alcohol associated with luxury and wealth.
How to drink vodka with gold
Most manufacturers recommend drinking gold vodka with ice in a martini glass to make the gold flakes sparkle in the light.
Also, this alcohol can be used as a cocktail ingredient, turning the usual alcohol into a drink of unique beauty.
Cocktails
Golden vodka can be used in any cocktail, but some recipes have been created specifically for it.
- Apple bite gold (Golden Apple Cider Vinegar). Pour 2 parts of lemonade and apple juice into an ice-filled glass, add 1 part of vodka with gold flakes. Serve with lime zest.
- The golden flute (Gold sprinkler). In an ice-filled shaker, mix 1 part gold vodka with 2 parts carbonated apple juice or apple lemonade, and serve in a tall glass.
- Golden mule (gold mule). In an ice-filled glass, mix 2 parts ginger beer and 1 part gold vodka, stir, serve with a lime wedge.
The benefits and harms of vodka with gold
Food gold has no effect on the body – neither positive nor negative. It simply passes through the esophagus and is excreted naturally.
However, some manufacturers claim that gold flakes reduce the likelihood of cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, strengthen the nerves, relieve migraines and increase concentration levels. Official medicine does not agree with this, especially since this precious metal is contained in vodka in small quantities.
