What is uterine annihilation? Does uterine flexion affect the course and development of pregnancy? Can it cause problems in childbirth?
What does uterine anterior bending mean?
Hello, I was doing an ultrasound and the description came up with the word ‘anterior flexion of the uterus, which worried me a bit. What is uterine annihilation? Is it some defect of the uterus? Does this uterine flexion heal in some way, and if so, how? I did the tests because my husband and I want to try for a baby and I am worried if the uterine flexion affects the pregnancy? Is uterine hyperextension a problem in childbirth?
I must admit that this worries me a bit, because I have never heard such a phrase before, and I have heard everywhere only about the overturning of the uterus, but never about the uterine anterior flexion. I will also add that I have never had any suggestive symptoms problems with the reproductive system. I have regular menstruation, no pain symptoms, etc. My biggest symptoms are related to the planned pregnancy, I want everything to go well, and the uterine flexion as a result of ultrasound made me a little worried. Please let me know what is uterine anterior flexion and should it worry me at all?
The doctor explains what the uterine ansection is
During a gynecological examination, the position of the uterus in relation to the bladder is distinguished as an anterior flexion or a retraction. Hypertrophy is when the bottom of the uterus, i.e. its upper part, goes towards the abdominal wall, leaning against the urinary bladder.
Back-flexion means that the floor of the uterus, instead of being directed forward, towards the abdominal wall, goes backwards – towards the rectum. Uterine hypertrophy is more frequent, retroflexion occurs less frequently, in 1/4 of women. Both of these states are anatomical variants of the norm. There is nothing to worry about, it is just something that can be examined in the examination and which later influences how we carry out some gynecological examinations. Hypertrophy and distortion are not treated because it is not a disease, but the norm. In the past, it was thought that retroflexion of the uterus could be the cause of infertility, but many years of research on this topic and expert opinions exclude that the position of the uterus in relation to other abdominal organs has an impact on whether the sperm reaches the egg.
It should be remembered that, like all parts of the body, the uterus can be of different sizes or shapes. Neither a crooked uterus nor a crooked uterus should have any impact on health, including reproductive health. An overturned or a retracted uterus is like this from birth and should not be treated – there are no medications or treatments that can be performed as it is not a disease but simply the norm or a variant of it.
If, in spite of everything, your concerns about pregnancy persist, or you have other symptoms – abdominal pain, irregular bleeding, too intense bleeding, problems with becoming pregnant despite regular intercourse, you should visit your Gynecologist, who will interview the interview and examine and will explain if you do not understand something. You should not be ashamed of even the stupidest questions that may come to your mind – a medical visit is also for you to get to know your body better and to receive answers to your questions.
