What is the turista?
If the turista is especially frequent in tropical or subtropical countries with questionable hygiene, the south of Europe is not spared either.
Still called traveler’s diarrhea, “Kabulite”, “Djerbienne” and a thousand other little names with colorful connotations, turista (or tourista) affects more than 60% of travelers. It is still of infectious origin. It owes its name to the fact that holidaymakers from countries where drinking water is easy to access are the most affected: indeed, their bodies are not used to encountering germs in proportions much greater than their daily lives. .
Often benign, turista can sometimes cause severe dehydration, even death, in the most fragile people: infants, the elderly, people with chronic illness. A good reason to anticipate it and when it is present, not to neglect it.
