What is the Pegan Diet?

The name comes from a cross between vegan and paleo diets. The paleo diet means eating meat, fruits and vegetables, but avoiding legumes, dairy products, root vegetables with a high level of carbohydrates, cereals …

It turns out that the connecting link in both diets is vegetables and fruits that are allowed to be consumed both there and there. But it is, of course, almost impossible to eat only these foods. And in this case, we will not talk about the full value and balance of nutrition. So Hyman took the best of both diets and came up with the following Pegan diet formula.

What can you eat on a pegan diet?

The Pegan diet excludes the consumption of any kind of semi-finished products, frozen vegetables and fruits, canned food, fast food, as well as foods with sugar, refined grains and bread.

The ideal pegan, according to Hayman, is a person who also refused imported products from abroad and prefers local ones. At best, he buys from farmers.

You can eat meat and fish, however, grown in free water and not stuffed with growth hormones and antibiotics. You can eat any vegetables and fruits, except root vegetables, mushrooms, nuts, legumes, cereals, eggs, vegetable oil, soy, nut or coconut milk.

Even desserts and alcohol are acceptable! But, of course, within reasonable limits, about twice a week for one serving. And once a week you can arrange a cheat meal: allow yourself absolutely everything you want!

What are the benefits of the Pegan Diet?

The fact that a person does not have to give up meat and cereals, as required by one diet, or give up fish and eggs, as required by another, is a huge advantage.
