It is customary to divide the cough into wet and dry, while the wet cough is the one during which the mucus is coughing up. The dry cough is violent, uncontrollable. It has a paroxysmal character. It causes a feeling of suffocation. Some people describe it as a “barking” cough. Wet cough is not so violent. Dry cough appears at the very beginning of the infection. It often teases us at night, effectively disturbing our rest. It only takes 2-3 days. A wet cough appears at a more advanced stage of the disease, when secretions appear in the lower respiratory tract. It may take up to several days. photo: Shutterstock
