  • What is the composition of Inka?
  • How many calories in Inka sauce?
  • Is it possible to drink grain coffee while pregnant?
  • Can children drink grain coffee?
  • Is Inka coffee carcinogenic?

However, we will start by explaining why you can experience a shock when browsing the shelves with cereal coffee, especially if we go back to the nineties with our memories …

Inka cereal coffee – huge selection

Because there were times before! You came to the store, asked Inka for coffee, and it was brought by the seller. Today, such a situation would generate an additional question: “but which one?” Of course, we have a classic version, and in addition … honey, chocolate, caramel, with calcium, magnesium, fiber, bio: with fig or chicory, and bio classic, and finally gluten-free. In a jar, a sachet – to choose from, to the color!

Quickly counting, we have as many as eleven types of coffee. In addition, the brand was also used to produce plant-based drinks, which we wrote about in more general terms in the previous material.

What is the composition of Inka?

The manufacturer, both on the packaging and on its website, boasts that that the product consists of 100% natural ingredients. In addition, it should be fully suitable for people who prefer vegan nutrition – this is also good news. We are particularly pleased with one more “information sticker” with the inscription on it “no added sugar”. In the era of the flood of products with which sugar is packed in handfuls (yes, enthusiasts of energy drinks and other such drinks, we call you to the table!) Such a declaration is really worth it.

Looking at the composition of Inka coffee in reality, in the list of the classic variety, we find:

  • cereals 78% (including barley, rye),
  • chicory.

And that’s it. It looks completely natural, right? We like such labels a lot! As a curiosity, it can be added that this set has basically not changed since the aforementioned nineties, but it was similar already in the eighteenth century, when the drink made its debut in Europe. Returning to the labels, however, the gluten-free Inka coffee has the following composition:

  • 75% corn (flour and / or grains),
  • sunflower oil,
  • dried carrots 5,2%,
  • dried pumpkin 5,2%,
  • vitamin B1

In addition, the producer declares that all ingredients come from fully controlled organic farming. Finally, the BIO variety, more specifically Inka BIO chicory coffee:

  • roasted chicory root.

No, we have not forgotten about the “E” and monosodium glutamates, preservatives – in addition, we are dealing with organic farming again for this only ingredient. Sounds very inviting!

How many calories in Inka sauce?

Okay, maybe at least the calories are pouring out of the table out of control? None of these things! Even by creating a very restrictive diet plan, Inka coffee can be easily included in the menu. One serving, which the manufacturer has estimated at four grams, is the equivalent of 14 calories. The table below reveals more:

Classic Inka coffee – portion (4 g)
energy value14 kcal
fats0 g
including saturated fatty acids0 g
carbohydrates3,2 g
including sugars0,5 g
roughage0,5 g
protein0,2 g
salt0 g

It is worth noting that we are talking about a specific product, i.e. the classic version of Inka coffee. In the case of express sachets packed by Delecta under the “Anatol” brand, the 200 ml portion was calculated for a little less, only 4 calories.

Gourmets tempted by Chocolate Inka coffee must swallow 177 calories in a 20 g serving of the combined product with milk (200 ml). It is a bit worse, especially since the product is also sweetened, so this variety is definitely weaker than the basic variant of the popular cereal.

Is it possible to drink grain coffee while pregnant?

The list of benefits associated with the consumption of grain coffee is relatively long. This is, for example, a source of polyphenols, about which we have created a separate article. They are antioxidants which, to some extent, neutralize the effects of free radicals on the human body. If you want to take care of the bacterial microflora in the digestive tract, it is worth mentioning inulin, also absorbed when drinking cereal.

Interestingly, being pregnant, you can very often hear your doctor tell you to convert hectoliters of coffee you drink daily for a grain variety. There are no contraindications here, both during pregnancy and later, during breastfeeding.

Can children drink grain coffee?

For several years, on the Internet, you have also come across a theory that Inka coffee with modified milk can be given even to children under three years of age, but we have not found reliable research. As always in such cases, both during pregnancy, breastfeeding and in children, any doubts should be consulted with a doctor. An experienced dietitian can also prove to be a valuable help.

Is Inka coffee carcinogenic?

The Internet is full of questions, including quite strange ones, but our assumption is – who asks does not err! Is Inka coffee carcinogenic? First of all, in the context of grain coffee, one should not generalize, reducing it only to Inka – a lot depends on the producer and composition, and there are at least a dozen producers on the Polish market. Therefore, it is always worth referring to the list of ingredients on the label.

In addition, here, too, we have not come to any studies that in any way indicate that Inka is carcinogenic, but by the way, it should be mentioned that acrylamide, produced by the thermal treatment of both regular coffee and cereals, can be problematic.

Therefore, as with everything, also moderation should be observed here. Preparing and drinking a “cistern” of Inka’s coffee for the day (because it is low in calories!) Will not be a good idea. One or two servings a day is quite a reasonable choice, especially as some people feel that this coffee can to some extent quench the feeling of hunger. When choosing a version with, for example, fiber, a quite valuable ingredient is delivered to the body, so the benefits can be felt – if we eat more of it, remember to include it in the caloric balance.
