Why do knees hurt on the inside? Does this indicate possible knee damage? Is it a symptom of developing rheumatic disease? The question is answered by the drug. Anna Mitschke.
Why do knees hurt on the inside of the leg?
Hello. I am 35 years old, I am a woman. I have had a strange ailment for some time. I first felt it a few months ago. At first I didn’t even pay much attention to it, I thought maybe I had hit myself somewhere, but the ailment was getting worse and finally it started to really bother me. It is about knee painbut not so normally, only on the inside. I would like to ask what’s up the cause of knee pain on the inside?
It’s hard for me to even describe the pain, it’s inside and not outside, the pain is so delicately burning. What can this be about? Is it possible that I have damaged my knee somewhere and that has caused such pain in my knee on the inside? Or is it some kind of rheumatic disease, joint problems or something? I am not reminded of anything that I am damaged in some way or that I do not remember something … I would like to add that I do not have any chronic disease, so far I have not suffered from anything serious and that is why I am surprised. Thank you for your help.
The doctor indicates possible causes of knee pain on the inside
The cause of knee pain may be pathology in the knee joint, e.g. as a result of an injury or osteoarthritis. Sometimes knee pain may result from a rheumatic disease, e.g. gout, or other diseases such as Lyme disease. A common cause of knee pain is overloading them as a result of being overweight or the fact of practicing sports. Pain in the knee, calf area may indicate vascular disease. Apart from the presence of pain, the accompanying symptoms are also important. That is why it is worth going to a general practitioner who, after getting acquainted with the patient, will order possible diagnostic tests and refer, for example, to an orthopedics and traumatology specialist or a rheumatologist.
In the case of knee pain, it is helpful to ask yourself questions such as: Where exactly is the pain located? Does anything soothe or intensify the pain? How long have you been suffering from? What is the nature of the pain? This can help us and the doctor to figure out what is causing it.
My guess is that when you describe your knee pain on the inside, you mean the lower knee. Pain in the popliteal can be due to the same causes as knee pain. There are vessels and nerves in the popliteal fossa. On the other hand, it is limited by the muscles from the upper-medial side by the semimembranous and semitendinous muscles, from the upper-lateral side by the biceps muscle, and from the lower side by the gastrocnemius muscle. At the bottom of the popliteal fossa is the femur, the joint capsule of the knee joint, the ligament and the popliteal muscle.
Due to the structures located in this area, the pain can be caused, for example, by inflammation of the muscle tendon or by a cyst that presses on the vessels and nerves present there. The cause may be a Baker’s cyst, which is a collection of synovial fluid resulting from trauma or chronic diseases. Knee pain can cause goose foot inflammation. The goose foot is the place of attachment of three muscles – semi-tendinous, tailor-made and slender. It may become inflamed in this area as a result of excessive friction, e.g. while running.
