🙂 Greetings to regular and new readers! This article provides information on what stress is in simple terms. Check out a selection of videos on this topic here.
What is stress?
This is a protective reaction of the body to unfavorable external factors (mental or physical trauma).
It is possible to determine the stress in a person. This is most noticeable when his emotional state is clearly heightened. In this state, adrenaline is present in the human body, it forces you to find a way out of a problem situation.
A stressful state perfectly motivates a person to take action, it is necessary. Many people are not interested in living without such a state. But when there is too much stress, the body loses strength and stops fighting.
The human body reacts in the same way to various drugs. This reaction is called general adaptation syndrome, later called stress.
As a rule, such a person’s reaction is considered negative, in fact, this is not always the case. To maintain the internal environment, the body needs an adaptation syndrome. The main task of the state is to preserve certain properties in order to maintain a constant internal environment.
There are both negative effects of the reaction on the body and positive ones. Let’s say you received an unexpectedly large lottery win or were fined a decent amount, initially the reaction will be the same.
Internal experiences do not affect the state of the body in any way. This phenomenon is not a disease or pathology, it is a part of life, and it has become habitual for people.

Types of stress
- Eustress – triggered by positive emotions. Such stress restores the strength of the human body.
- Distress – caused by a negative effect on the body.
Usually, when people talk about stressful conditions, they mean distress. The special state of the nervous system of the body is studied by psychotherapists and solve this problem with their clients.
Distress (negative form) and eustress (positive form) should not be confused, they are two different concepts. A person who is resistant to stress is someone who is resistant to distress.
What do you think: who is more resistant to stress, men or women? The question is important in our time. The fact that men do not cry and that they have nerves of steel is far from the case.
In fact, women are much easier to tolerate negative influences. That is why they are very stress-resistant, unlike men. But with unexpected and harsh troubles, women can show their weakness.
Stress: what to do
First, learn to use relaxation techniques such as deep, even breathing. Exercise daily, listen to soft music, and do not drink alcohol. Drink more clean water (1,5-2 liters per day). Breathe fresh air more often. If possible, go to the park or to the seashore.
Are the above tips not helping? See an experienced doctor or psychologist. 😉 There is always a way out!
