Your doctor explains what is sinus bradycardia

Ladies and Gentlemen, I understand that you had an ECG, not an EEG. The EEG test is used to assess the function of the brain a EKG of the electrical activity of the heart. The ECG enables the diagnosis of arrhythmias, including bradycardia. Normal heart rate is 60-100 beats per minute. We talk about bradycardia when the rhythm is slower, so it does not exceed 60 beats per minute. Sinus bradycardia results from disturbances in the production of stimuli by the sinoatrial node, which is the primary center of the heart’s conduction system. It is he who gives the heart rhythm.

Abnormalities in the work of the sinoatrial node can cause tachycardia, i.e. increased heart rate, and the already mentioned bradycardia. Down symptoms of sinus bradycardia these include rapid fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, fainting, and deterioration in physical performance. Treatment of sinus bradycardia depends on its cause. Please remember that bradycardia is characteristic of vocational training and may be associated with better exercise tolerance. However, if it is symptomatic, it requires diagnosis and possible treatment.

If the bradycardia is strictly due to sinoatrial disease, pacemaker implantation may sometimes be necessary. If the disease is the result of other diseases, such as hypothyroidism or water and electrolyte disturbances, treatment is to treat the underlying disease. You do not need to perform any additional tests before visiting the cardiologist. A specialist will order them during your visit. As for the further continuation of the profession, only the cardiologist will be able to comment after diagnosing the cause of your condition.
