What should you know about prosthesis? What impact on everyday functioning? Does it require surgery or surgery? What is the treatment of protusions? The question is answered by the drug. Anna Mitschke.
What should you know about prosthesis?
Hello, I am 33 years old and I have been struggling with backaches for some time. At first, my back only hurt occasionally, or when I made certain movements. Now, however, the pain in my spine has become so bothersome that I went to the doctor. This one mentioned something about protusions, but didn’t explain exactly what it was about. Of course, he ordered tests – computed tomography, but you have to wait a long time for that. I’m worried that this is something very serious.
I read that the prosthesis has something to do with a hernia, but I don’t know if it’s true. Actually, this is the first time I have come across such a term – protusion. It sounds pretty cosmic to me, and I would like to know if there are any serious problems with it. Will I have an operation? Whether treatment of protusions is it possible at all? For now, I try not to read information on this topic on the internet.
A bit of fear and a bit that I will not find a clear answer. My friend recommended this portal to me. I hope to get the answer to my question here. Thank you for your help.
The doctor explains what a protusion is
The intervertebral discs between the vertebrae of the spine act as shock absorbers and determine its proper mobility. Unfortunately, in some situations they can be damaged.
Protrusion is a mild state protrusion of the intervertebral disc not damaging the fibrous ring. Thus, there is no pressure on the nerve roots and the characteristic pain – sciatica (pain in the lower limb combined with low back pain).
Although protrusion is a mild state, it can often lead to no discomfort intervertebral disc herniation. The hernia of the intervertebral disc in the lumbar region is common in young and middle-aged people. This state of affairs can occur in many ways.
One of the main reasons is excessive load on the spine due to incorrect posture, a sedentary lifestyle, and obesity. The hernia of the intervertebral disc can also occur during a traffic accident, physical work, or during a sudden, sudden bending movement in the spine.
The choice of treatment depends on the severity of the changes in the patient’s spine. The result of the radiological examination is normal in most cases, but it is necessary to exclude other causes of back pain. In many patients, good treatment outcomes are achieved by the inclusion of inoperable therapy.
In order to reduce the pressure and withdraw the herniation of the intervertebral disc, it is necessary to introduce frequent rests during the day, limit physical activity, avoid lifting and staying for a long time in a sitting position. Additionally, pharmacotherapy is included. This approach is appropriate when symptoms have been present for a maximum of two weeks.
If the symptoms are severe, surgery may be necessary. In milder cases, a specialist may order rehabilitation, painkillers.
Please consult your attending physician, who will surely explain and suggest appropriate treatment.
