What is lumbalization?

Good day. I am 35 years old and have been feeling for some time pain in the lumbar spine. Of course, I went to an orthopedist, got a referral for imaging tests, where I found out that the cause of the pain was lumbalization. To be honest, I heard about lumbalization for the first time, and I have an appointment with a specialist for some time. Therefore, I am interested in what is lumbalization? I have read that lumbalization is a birth defect, but I have never experienced any symptoms of lumbalization before.

Is it even possible for lumbalization to be asymptomatic for so many years, since it is a congenital defect? And the most important question – can lumbalization be cured? I have a lot of back pain, especially since I work mainly at the computer. I would be grateful for information if there is any effective treatment of lumbalizationthat will take away the pain? I only found information on physiotherapy for lumbalization, but I am afraid if this method will be able to help me somehow quickly. I don’t want to take painkillers all the time, and I’m afraid that effects of lumbalization they will only get worse. Please help.

The doctor explains what lumbalization is

Lumbalization is a congenital defect of the spine consisting in the presence of an abnormal structure of the spine in the lumbar region. In the lumbar spine, there are five lumbar vertebrae connected from the top to the thoracic vertebrae and from the bottom to the sacrum.

Lumbalization is often asymptomatic. Sometimes the defect is detected accidentally when taking pictures. It happens, however, that it causes troublesome pain in the lumbar spine. Long-term stress on the spine aggravates the pain. Therefore, avoid lifting heavy objects. It is contraindicated to stay for a long time in a forced sitting, standing or bending position. Additionally, it is not advisable to wear high-heeled shoes.

Being overweight can also contribute to the appearance of pain. Often the patient’s work requires activities that strain the spine. In such a situation, it is worth taking care of taking breaks at work, in which we can perform short exercises to relieve the spine or simply change the position. When lifting heavy objects, remember to take the correct position, straighten your back and bend your knees. In addition, a good solution is to buy a properly fitted mattress that will allow the patient to rest well at night.

The therapeutic procedure in the case of lumbalization is rehabilitation. Often times, treatment requires time and commitment on the part of the patient who must be patient and disciplined. You should be systematic in the implementation of the recommended rehabilitation treatments. Prevention and prevention of pain in the lumbar spine is important. If necessary, pharmacological treatment and painkillers are started.

I suggest consulting a specialist in orthopedics and traumatology of the musculoskeletal system. After collecting a complete medical history, examining the patient and reading the test results, the doctor will decide on further treatment.
