Alprox is a prescription psychotropic drug. It contains the active substance alprazolam. It comes in the form of tablets in packs of 30, in doses of 0,25, 0,5 and 1 mg of alprazolam. It is not reimbursed by the National Health Fund.
How does Alprox work?
Alprazolam is an organic compound that is a triazole derivative of benzodiazepine. Like all benzodiazepine drugs, it acts on the GABA receptors of the nervous system and is its agonist. After binding with the receptor, it leads to the flow of chloride ions through the chloride channel of the nerve cell and inhibition of nerve conduction. In practice, such an effect on the nervous system is expressed anxiolytic, anxiolytic, sedative, hypnotic and anticonvulsant effects.
Taking Alprox
An indication do the use of alprazolam are anxiety disorders with panic attacks in a situation where the anxiety symptoms are severe (short-term use). It should not be used for a long time as it may be physically and mentally addictive. The dosage should be determined by the doctor each time.
Contraindications and precautions when using Alprox

Alprox has numerous interactions with various medications. In particular, it cannot be used with other drugs with a similar effect, because they intensify each other’s effects and side effects. Like any drug, Alproxu should not be combined with with alcohol, however, in this case it is necessary to pay special attention to it because alcohol intensifies action of alprazolam. The drug affects psychomotor performance.
In the event of co-occurrence of other diseases, you should tell your doctor about everything because the use of alprazolam it can be dangerous for some ailments (e.g. liver and kidney disorders, breathing problems). Be careful with using the drug in elderly patients as the muscle relaxant increases the risk of falls.
