What is the discharge under the foreskin? Check what a mastka is. The question is answered by the drug. Paweł Żmuda-Trzebiatowski.

What is the mastication under the foreskin?

Hello. I have a question about taking care of boys’ intimate place. We recently went to a control visit with our six-month-old son. The doctor had no objection to the results of the tests, she auscultated the little one, checked the weight, but when examining the foreskin, she said that mastics were collecting underneath him.

The little one started to cry, so I didn’t ask what a mastka is? I know it’s kind of like discharge that collects under the foreskin. Can anyone tell me what role it plays? Should the mask be removed?

I wonder if if I start to remove this secretion, it may become inflamed, or the little one will have trouble pissing. I am also wondering if I should go to a urologist for a follow-up visit with such a small child, because I am worried not only about the mastectus, but also about the issue of pulling the foreskin, because there are different opinions about it, and because it is our first child, so I have no experience, no i want to miss anything. Regards and I am asking for an answer.

The doctor explains what a mastka is

Ladies and Gentlemen, the mastka is a discharge consisting of exfoliated epithelium, sebum, bacteria and urine. It occurs in men and women. It is believed that it helps to keep the glans moist or facilitates sexual intercourse, although its presence is not indifferent to health.

Collecting the mast under the foreskin often results from improper hygiene of the intimate areas, its excess may cause the development of inflammation around the glans. Mastka has a very unpleasant smell, so it should not be allowed to form, taking care of proper personal hygiene.

As I mentioned excess of mastic it can cause the development of inflammation, among others by the development of the bacterial flora – the secretion is an ideal breeding ground for bacteria. A bacterial infection can spread from the glans to the urethra, causing urethritis, which in most cases must be treated with an antibiotic.

As you yourself mentioned, the issue of pulling the foreskin is a controversial issue, it would be best if you and your son go to a pediatric urologist who will provide a professional answer. You should definitely take into account possible phimosis, i.e. a condition in which it is impossible or significantly difficult to pull the foreskin off the glans, which is often accompanied by pain symptoms.

Phimosis itself predisposes to the development of the breast, due to the fact that it is difficult to maintain proper personal hygiene, although it should not be an argument for abandoning care for the cleanliness of the intimate area. Treatment of phimosis is usually surgical, often with circumcision. Your urologist will certainly tell you more about this.

The editorial board recommends:

  1. Mastka – what is the significance for the genitals?
  2. Phimosis – what is it? Treatment for children and adults
  3. A small skin fold or foreskin
