For a long time, when I heard the word “detox”, I assumed that it was some kind of diet. And my weight is already below the norm, so I was not particularly interested. Oddly enough, the fact that detox is a program to cleanse the body, restoring its natural strength, I was told by … the veterinarian of our dogs, who recommended that they take such a course. He painted it so temptingly that it was decided to immediately try this super method. On myself.
Detox No. 1. Female, with an American coach
This option was recommended to me by a friend. It turned out (but I did not check) that the female body “suffers” from estrogen, under the influence of which yeast bacteria multiply. As a result – excess weight, irritability, fatigue, skin problems. In addition to the standard exceptions for three weeks of detox: alcohol, cigarettes, caffeine, flour, dairy and any “heavy” food, it was impossible to eat nuts and fruits. The fact that the diet turned out to be incredibly meager is to say nothing: the coach relied on avocados and goat cheese products, which you won’t find in our day-to-day fire, and refused to hear that I haven’t eaten fish and chicken for 8 years already.
Reluctantly, I could survive the lack of protein. It was really hard to be without fruits, pastries and a variety of desserts (I have a sweet tooth). Also mandatory were daily yoga, running and a diary of sensations (quickly abandoned, since I did not experience anything particularly new).

During the detox, the duration of sleep increased (she slept about nine hours, although usually seven is enough) and the amount of free time was sharply reduced, because it was required to eat 6 times a day, not counting snacks. When I woke up, I immediately began to peel vegetables, squeeze the juice from vegetables, boil vegetables, stew vegetables, clean vegetables, run to the store for fresh vegetables, and again in a circle.
The result was three kilograms dropped (for me, this is rather a negative result) and a persistent unwillingness to see vegetables. Of the benefits – my very dry skin has become much more vibrant and healthy, and my consumption of sweets has also sharply decreased – even two years after completing the course, I did not return to the previous number of cakes eaten.
Detox #2 Raw
Six months after the first experience, I accidentally came across a description of a detox nutrition program for raw foodists on the Internet. Why not try? I’ve always wondered what it’s like to eat only fresh. What’s more, I was glad that I didn’t have to cook a lot. The bottom line was to drink various juices twice a day and eat salads, fruits and simple dishes without heat treatment four times a day. I don’t know if this is due to the magical effect of raw food or is still due to the fact that I constantly needed to be distracted from the feeling of hunger, but I became more energetic several times. I had to occupy myself with something all the time, so as not to think that my stomach was about to eat itself and take on neighboring organs. It was written in the program that with a strong feeling of hunger, you can eat a date or a banana. On the third day, I could no longer see either the first or the second, and the hunger did not disappear anywhere even in a dream.
I admit honestly – I only had enough for two weeks out of the expected three. It was useful to discover several new interesting dishes and realize that it is good to engage in a raw food diet only in warm countries, and not in our country, where there are three fruits, four vegetables, it is bitterly cold outside and nowhere without hot soup … Everything is subjective, of course.
Detox No. 3. Group Ayurvedic
My friend recruited a small group of applicants (from friends). I like the way she looks at 45, her attitude and life principles. So I fearlessly signed up for a detox for the third time.
It was early spring and we were recommended Indian cuisine, various root vegetables, lots of nuts for vegetarians (or fish for everyone else), and a few signature dishes. It was required to drink constantly – herbal teas with spices. Also mandatory were the intake of vitamins, Ayurvedic preparations, yoga, meditation, self-massage and warm baths with oils. Every day it was necessary to discuss with other members of the group, to help each other and inspire. Perhaps this was the most difficult.
It seemed that some women were simply bored and created topics for discussion every minute. As a result, it was very difficult to find a meal plan for the next day and recommendations from a coach among an endless stream of posts and messages. If I turned off notifications, I received claims that I was not participating in the life of the group. It was strange.

Also on some days (most) the food was tasteless. And now you seem to be full, but you do not feel any satisfaction. I want to certainly eat something else, to please my receptors and senses. Sad.
Surprisingly, after a couple of weeks of detox, the situation became much better – and they got used to specific dishes, and to each other (many began to communicate in personal correspondence, and the group turned into a storehouse of only the most necessary and useful information).
And this time I was very pleased with the result. Firstly, I didn’t lose weight (who set such a goal for themselves – lost weight), secondly, digestion normalized, the daily routine was established; thirdly, there is really more energy, the inner voice sounded more calm; fourthly, pleasant habits have appeared, such as a warm bath before going to bed or self-massage with fragrant oils.
If we sum up all three experiences of detox, I can say for sure – there is an effect, it is useful and necessary to cleanse the body. The main thing is to find your method and your mentor. An unprofessional approach can cause significant harm to health (especially the gastrointestinal tract) and state of mind (a hungry woman cannot be happy!). Correct – will give beauty, health and energy.
