In this publication, we will consider what a ray (half-line) is, how it is denoted, and also list the signs of the coincidence of two rays.

Beam definition
Ray is a part that has a beginning but not an end. Sometimes called a half-line. Designated in two ways:
- Small Latin letter (a, b, c etc.)
- Two large Latin letters that correspond to points on the beam, and one of them is its beginning, and its letter is written first (in the figure below – AB).
If you put a point on a straight line (in our case – O), then two beams infinitely continuing in opposite directions (half-direct) will emanate from it.
Signs of coincidence of rays
Two beams coincide if they (all three conditions must be met simultaneously):
- originate at the same point;
- directed in the same direction;
- belong to the same line.
Example:
In this picture:
- Rays AB and AC coincide;
- Beams BA and BC do not match.
