Musical or logico-mathematical? Scientists have confirmed the hypothesis of a plurality of types of intelligence today.
The idea of multiple intelligences was proposed in the 1980s by the psychologist Howard Gardner. Today, studies of brain activity have confirmed his hypothesis by identifying zones that are responsible for seven types of thinking:
- Interpersonal – thanks to it, we can recognize emotions, understand the motives of behavior and guess the intentions of other people.
- Spatial-visual is responsible for orientation in the area, understanding of visual images, parameters of physical bodies.
- Logico-mathematical operates with numbers and abstract categories.
- Verbal-linguistic is responsible for understanding speech, the structure of language and the meaning of words.
- Body-kinesthetic is the ability to control the body, recognize sensations and control movements.
- Intrapersonal allows us to understand our own emotions and desires.
- Musical – the ability to understand the harmony, rhythm, mood of a piece of music.
