What is metabolic age? What does the metabolic age of our body show? What does it affect? What influences the increase of the metabolic age? The question is answered by the drug. Anna Mitschke.
What parameters influence the metabolic age?
Good morning, I would like to ask what affects metabolic age. Well, I am slightly overweight and decided to visit a dietitian and start a slimming diet. In addition, I started taking care of my body through physical activity in the gym. Nevertheless, I am concerned about a fact. During a visit to a dietitian, he checked my metabolic age.
According to the result, it is 40 years old, and I am 33 years old. Why was such a result? Really, what is metabolic age, how can it be defined? What affects the metabolic age of the body? The fact that I am overweight may cause my age to increase? Could an inadequate diet and the use of stimulants (I smoked a lot of cigarettes) influence this overstatement?
I was a bit worried about this – it turned out that my body is seven years older than the actual age. Please let me know what influences my metabolic age, what should I do to lower it, introduce something to my daily activity, or maybe limit it. I will be grateful for all tips and information.
The doctor suggests what can lower the metabolic age
Overweight and obesity are common problems that affect many people. They contribute to the emergence of a number of diseases. From cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, hormonal disorders, cancer, joint overload to mental problems. No wonder that many people decide to visit a dietitian.
Professional help is often necessary to lose unnecessary kilograms safely and permanently. During a visit to a dietitian, the body composition is analyzed using the bioelectric impedance method and the metabolic age is calculated. This allows you to judge body condition and determine his baseline status before implementing the eating plan. Depending on the test device, a lot of information can be obtained.
The basic parameters are the percentage of water, adipose tissue, bone tissue and muscles in the body. The devices show caloric requirements, basal metabolic rate, water distribution in the body, metabolic age and many more. In order for the test result to be reliable, you must be prepared for it. The metabolic age depends on several parameters, which are the content of adipose and muscle tissue, the amount of water in the body and the value of the basic metabolism.
Healthy lifestyle plays a crucial role. To lower your metabolic age, follow a healthy, balanced diet. When it comes to food, the healthy eating pyramid is based on fresh vegetables and fruits. You should eat grain products, especially whole grains. Dairy products and fish are important in the diet, and it is worth limiting meat consumption.
Healthy Eating should be supplemented by regular, moderate-intensity exercise. This is e.g. walking, cycling, swimming, walking, Nordic walking. If in doubt, please consult a dietitian. Certainly, the dietitian will answer your questions. If you feel worse, see your GP.
