What I want: a point in the body that is responsible for true desires

In Chinese medicine, as we know, the body is a sacred object and each active point is associated with our psychological state. And there is even one that is responsible for the drive in life, our desires and the ability to realize them. Where is she? And how to keep the passion and desire for the goal?

Find the thinnest part of your waist. Place your palms on this line and move your thumbs towards the spine. Right next to the spine there will be two points – or rather, this is one paired point, and it is called Ming Meng. Translated from Chinese – Gate of Destiny. It is here that the fire of our desires flares up.

Desires: good or bad?

In the Buddhist tradition, desires are considered a relative synonym for attachments: a person constantly wants something, depends on his desires. Therefore, in Buddhism, the word “desire” is negative.

In the Taoist tradition, desires are understood as “the fire of Ming Men” – a drive that allows us to move forward. Enthusiasm, the desire to realize one’s potential – that is, true desire. And in this sense, it is necessary for life.

Fire Ming Meng

What is Ming Meng fire? Taoists believe that it gradually flares up after the child is born. This fire fills the child and flows through the eyes to the goal: the child sees what he wants to get (for example, a toy or mother’s hands).

Ming Meng’s fire lifts the child, puts him on his feet and allows him to take the first step on his path. Remember how children learn to walk? They so selflessly and persistently want it, they get up and fall thousands of times. But every time they get up again and continue to study.

As a child, Ming Meng’s fire is stronger than ever. But the years go by, age takes its toll, and a person becomes less and less bright desires. In Chinese medicine, the reason for the death of a person is considered to be “the extinction of the Ming Meng fire.” Why can he fade away?

There are two main reasons for this:

  • the energy that feeds the fire of Ming Men has ended, that is, the vital forces have ended;
  • there is no desire to kindle the fire of Ming Men, that is, a person has lost interest in life. Even if there are forces, a person does not need them, there is no reason and reason for realization.

Kindle an extinguished fire

In Western European medicine, “lack of interest in life” is more of a psychological or psychiatric problem, usually associated with depression. In the East, it is believed that the psychological state is directly related to the body and the therapeutic effect on the body allows you to balance the emotional background. Therefore, when a person is faced with despondency, lack of drive in life, an acupuncturist or a qigong specialist will have a complex effect on the body, activating the Ming Meng point.

For the fire of Ming Men to burn, it is necessary that the lower back is relaxed, free and mobile. In our culture, a beautiful loin is a loin with a spectacular arch. In Eastern practices, it is believed that a frozen deflection in the lower back is a pathology: the lumbar spine must be flexible and mobile.

The loin should be able to both bend and fully straighten, performing the shock-absorbing function provided by nature when walking. Therefore, the first priority will be to relax the muscles along the lower back and open the Ming Men point.

To do this, you need to perform relaxation exercises, for example, a course of exercises for the spine Sing Shen Juang. In this form of qigong, there are exercises for all active points of the spine, including Ming Meng – the exercise that opens this point has the beautiful name “Snake Rings”.

Do you want to live longer?

In the Taoist tradition, there is a certain set of practices aimed at increasing life expectancy. And all of them are connected in one way or another with the study of the Ming Men point. At the first stage, it opens, the space around the point relaxes. And on the second – it is fed with energy so that the supply of vitality does not run out. One of the directions of such practices is called neigong, and in it the Ming Men point is filled with energy through breathing exercises.

Don’t slouch!

Whether it is possible to increase life expectancy with the help of special practices, science is still unknown. But the fact that by working on the structure and health of the lower back, we add drive and enthusiasm to ourselves is a fact.

The Ming Men point is also associated with new possibilities: when the Gate of Destiny opens, it gives us more choice to implement. Not to mention the fact that special relaxing exercises for the lower back allow you to get rid of pain in this area once and for all. And radically improve your posture.

As we said above, the beauty of our posture depends on the disclosure of this point: how easily and freely we strive upwards, keep our back straight. When the fire of Ming Men does not burn brightly enough, the person slouches.

This statement can be easily verified in practice. If someone in your family slouches, try gently touching the Ming Men area (remember, at the narrowest part of the waist). Just touch this point and wait. In a few seconds, you will see how the person’s shoulders straighten out, the top of the head tends up, the posture becomes freer and more beautiful.

Take care of the health of the lower back, and the spine, and the whole body will be grateful to you, and the desire to live miraculously will increase.
